I'm sure when you think of growing your niche websites traffic, you are thinking about writing articles, backlinking, making videos, posting on forums, finding good blogs to interact with, and all the other good bits that come with internet marketing. Don't just limit yourself to these internet options though.

That's only half of your options.

There are hundreds of places to find traffic for your website near you locally as well. Local businesses and organizations are my new favorite way to drive traffic to my websites. It has proven to be quick, consistent, and it usually only takes 5 minutes of talking to someone.

I market in my local area with all my niche sites and see great benefits from it. Remember, creating a website and making money from it is just building a business just like you would open a coffee shop. Some of the processes are different and there are different requirements, but the principles and what is needed for it to work are the same.

Here is my latest occurrence with marketing locally. One of my sites is involved with pregnancy. I was driving downtown last week and saw a billboard right in the middle of town that was a free help center for pregnant women. I thought to myself that would be a great place to market my site. My niche is something that most places aren't going to offer much guidance for and I could be the "authority" on the subject locally.

Well, I went out and bought 2500 of nicer then usual paper...that's the $12 I spent. Then I used the free program Open Office to make a sales letter. I made it a flier on one side and the other side was a 3 piece pamphlet. I made these sound pretty much exactly like my squeeze page.

I then went to this help center and asked to speak to the office manager. I told her about the website and what benefit their visitors would have by checking it out. I gave her a printed copy of my free report I was offering through the flier too. Then I asked if we I could leave my flier in the office.

She was excited to be able to offer her visitors what I had. I knew it was of high value and I'm the only one locally that would offer this. So, it was pretty guaranteed, at least in my head, that she would accept it.

-If you have a hard time actually getting to the office manager because they think you're just another salesman, then tell the receptionist what it is exactly that you are there for and what you are offering. They will more then likely get the office manager because they see you are offering something of great value. It's all about how you communicate with the receptionist to talk to people in charge though. At one time long ago, I was a door to door paper salesman in San Fransisco, CA....what a horrible job that was.

After this one stop, I had a couple thousand fliers in my backseat and thought what the hell...let's try some more places. I started to just drive around and anything that might have a market for pregnant women, I would stop and offer the same. I ended up getting 25 organizations/businesses to promote my website for free.

I didn't think I would find that many businesses related to pregnant women, but there is more out there then you think for most niches.

Each took me less then 10 minutes to close. It was like a dream come true for a salesman. But, the offer was just too good to be true.

Well it's been one week since I did that. I have had 550 more direct traffic viewers then usual in the this time, and this has led to more then $1200 extra in sales.

The ventures I have setup are asking for more fliers as well since they have been a big hit. One business is placing my fliers in their customers bags. That's a great spot to have a soft promotion...they just bought something related.

Anyways, if you are only promoting your website on the internet, then you are losing some good old fashioned and simple traffic. Offer them something of value that will make their business/organization look better and they will never refuse.

Look locally!

This is a good share. So many times we think the gold is only on the internet. Just thinking outside the box brings more. Well done.

      Good post.

Obviously there are tons of ways you can advertise your business offline, but one of the reasons a lot of people don't do it is because it's taking you away from the Internet lifestyle. I mean, you actually have to get away from your computer and go out into the real world!

So if you want to do it then great... but if you want to stick to the Internet for marketing then that's ok too, in my opinion.

At the end of the day, if you wanted to completely max out... you could do direct mail, post cards, magazine and newspaper advertising etc etc.

But then it wouldn't be the Internet lifestyle any more, would it?

Your former job as a door to door paper salesman made it easier for you to do what you are doing right now. So that wasn't a horrible job after all. Keep it up and thanks for sharing!

Talking about offline advertising/promotion. If anyone here is selling tangible products get your packaging material branded.

Look at Amazon, Dell, Netflix, and Staples. All have their name on every single side of the box. Keeps brand name awareness up and helps with promotion. You would be surprised how many people see that package.
