Anyone Sold A Website?

I'm thinking of selling a few of my websites which sell clickbank products. Where do you suggest is the best place to sell websites? I've heard a few names pop up such as the sitepoint forum, warrior forum and flippa.

Does anyone have any advice? I have never sold a website before.

I use Flippa And WF. Sitepoint is now Flippa. Create a good sales page and list all of the site's assets, such as traffic, revenue, number of affiliates, etc. Use screenshots to show proof of traffic, referring urls, and revenue sources.

This is totally correct, I use Flippa and had some great success. But make sure your listing/sales page is of good quality. Look at what just sold to get some examples, read the comments.

I have found that 5 day auctions work best for me anyway.

        I have sold many

I would say best is Flippa then Warrior forum and then Digitalpoint.

If you are selling it cheap then go for Digitalpoint or Namepros as they do not charge anything.

Thanks for your replies. The thing is I don't think my sites are that good traffic wise so they won't make appealing listings on Flippa.

Many of these sites are ones that I built in many different niches, I'm keeping the ones that are in niches I want to pursue.

One of them I want to sell for example is a Forex Site. Currently it only gets about 10 uniques a day and I built it back in December. Thing is, when I first built it I got 20 articles written on ezines then stopped backlinking. Using that technique it sold a FAP turbo and forex automoney so it is a good site that converts.

There are 30 pages of unique content on it written by an experienced forex trader. So it has value but the traffic stats aren't there. Do you still think this would be good to sell on flippa?

YES. Sell it on Flippa. People are looking for sites with unique content.

You're going to struggle without traffic or revenue.

We've just published a post on this, but the days of selling sites with little to no revenue and no traffic are fading fast, even on Flippa (aka gifthorse .com)

I hate to be the bearer of doom and gloom, but it may be a better investment to hang on to them and increase the traffic to increase the revenue.

Is there any particular reason you want to sell?

Thanks for your replies. I agree ashishthakkar, there will be some takers as it does have unique content and it has proven to sell if the effort is put in.

Flipfilter, sure increasing traffic would be a way to increase revenue.

I'm selling it because I've now moved onto CPA, so I don't really need some of these websites and don't have the time to build backlinks now.

Although I can't write this in an Ad but I think these sites do have potential. I'm keeping one or two that I did actually build backlinks to and they are a good source of passive income.

It's a shame because that's how the whole starter sites thing began in the first place - sites that people had created that they no longer wanted to work on, but these would have value to someone who didnt want to start from scratch.

But unfortunately, especially for genuine sellers like yourself, something went very wrong somewhere along the line

I still would like to sell this site. Because it's no point me building backlinks to it. My time's better spent on CPA now.

With this in mind, what would you recommend me do to sell it? I don't think i would do Flippa.

The website sales I've done in the past have always been based on a multiple of revenues. Buyers consider it a business in and of itself, and who would buy a business with little or no sales? Think of it from the buyer's perspective, what value is there for them?

I wish I could give you a better option but I don't think one currently exists.

Two more options (worthwhile for a punt but don't put too much hope into them)
WebsiteBroker - Websites For Sale. Buy and sell websites and domain names!
Webmasters Marketplace - Buy and sell websites, domain names and much more!

Digital Point - your site will eventually sell, but it's likely to be for pennies rather than dollars

Warrior Forum - people claim to have their sites sell on here but in truth you stand a better chance on Flippa. The only advantage is cost of listing (or the lack of it)

Damn, Justin you just gave away my secret strategy for buying.. watch for stuff of flippa that doesn't sell wait for 24 hours and It usually appears on DP at a much lower price, I recently got a site listed at $297 on flippa for $40 on DP..

(maybe a "relisted elsewhere" feature would be good on FF)

Flippa is highly recommended because most sites are sold at higher $ as compared to other forums. Most who go there have only one intention and that's where you will find more serious buyers.

Ebay is my experience. Well, you get approx 30% of what the site is worth in an auction. A pretty site sells for more. The key is to have a good color combination as many people will still pay for a site that has a total traffic of zero. However, the pretty pictures pull them in.
