"Read this or DIE."‏ The worst ever email subject line.

Hi,

I just received a email that had "Read this or DIE."‏ as the subject line, apparently is was used use by some medical company in the past with great success.

I replied to sender and told them exactly what I thought of their lousy subject line and unsubscribed from their list.

I think these kind of subject lines are outrageous and should not be used not matter how good the open rate is.

What do you think?

    I got the same email all i did was hit the delete and unsubscribe button, mailing them is a waste of time, time = money.

    I totally agree...when I receive this kind of emails i unsubscribe..
    day ago i received a message with title: paypal payment notification....
    im sure many people will open that email...but many will unsubscribe...if you
    want people open your emails give always good quality content for free...

    I'm still alive, whew! I totally agree though.. the title is way too demanding no matter how good their product are. I also unsubscribe these outrageous kind of emails too.

    I think now we have more power than we do right?!

    If it's part of an auto-responder series I'm guessing they know and maybe it gets the highest amount of replies/people taking action and the highest amount of complaints.

    Would be interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes there!

    I think that's clever as heck BUT at the same time it's juvenile. If I read the subject line I would either think it's my doctor or a Russia Vigara spammer.
