What is the rationale to choose an expired domain?

Hi guys,
I have already posted a thread on expired domains but I wanted to post more specific.

Could you please give me some ideas on how to choose an expired domain?

Thank you

F.

You need to find out if the domain has backlinks to it plus there may be traffic coming to the domain already. There is a free program or it used to be free anyway that will search keywords and find expired domains that are aged. There my be other people on the forum that know more about this than me.

I look for domains with traffic, backlinks, high page rank, and if possible, try to get a domain with a nice sounding name.

One last thing to consider is what kind of site was previously there? If it was an affiliate site that is now blacklisted in google, you've basically just wasted your money. You'll have a hard time getting that site to rank in the search engines.

        Thank you for that.
        Could you please elaborate on:

        1) how you find the domain
        2) how you find its backlinks (apart from entering it on Google search box)
        3) hot you check whether it is blacklisted

        Thank you.

#1, you can find them on GoDaddy's auction site, which is right on GoDaddy's web site.

For $5 domains, click the closeouts button, then sort by price. You may get lucky and find a real steal here. You don't have to buy a $5 domain, but it can't hurt to look either.

#2 - I only know of the search box method manually. I would also recommend you become a member at Domain Face. This service will solve problems 1 and 2 for you.

#3 - No real way to find out if a site is blacklisted, not that I know of. Maybe someone else on here knows how to find out. That's why its best to stay away from domains that were owned by affiliate marketers altogether.

Thanks very, very much for that...
This information only is worth $77 :-)
