I first wanted to jump into the home improvement niche but not sure if that is too wide of a niche. Should I focus on one main thing with in home improvement? Also when I do keyword research it seems way too saturated. Anyone having any luck with that niche? I know that things like weigh loss and personal improvement are good niches to get into but if you really know nothing about it what kind of approach do you take. I was listing to a interview where Eric Rockerfeller said he is in a scrap booking niche and I doubt that Mr. Rockstar is a big scrap booker so how do you do that? Lionel Turner |

If you are just starting out in niche marketing, I would suggest you to follow your passion. Although some might claim that not all niches are profitable, you need to keep your motivations high by choosing what you like because producing content and working with people that you just don't have any idea about will bore you. Specifically for your question, I would say home improvement is a good niche if you scope into a micro level, such as tiling, plumbing, or even roof repairs. You can always use Amazon and eBay as your merchants as they have tonnes of home improvement products for sale there. |

Go into a niche that has paying customers, invade niches that are filled with desperate buyers, offer a product that people just don't want but NEED, its urgent that they have that product. Have that mentality and you shall do well.

| Is there such a thing as to saturated? If so how can one tell if a niche is at that point. Most likely if there are lots of products in a niche than the niche is doing good. In other words there are buyers out there looking and willing to pay for information. Try to identify a micro niche that has not been touched on or even very lightly touched on and make a product that relates to it.

I'll tell you something.... I was driving in my car and listened to a radio advertisement that didn't sound like one at first. The radio ad started in (like a talk radio host) with someone speaking directly about giving tips & tricks to improve your house painting skills and at the end of the radio ad was a reference to knowledgeable staff at my local paint shop that would be happy to assist me with "my home improvement project". Well, I never ended up at that store 'cause I had already completed my house painting on the exterior windows (brutal work if you've ever tried) yet I still to this day remember the name of the store and I'll most likely drop in the next time I have more house painting to do in the future... which is inevitable. Not sure how my story will help you with finding your niche but just know that the home improvement market is huge yet filled with many, many niche markets within it. Check out your local Home Dept for niche ideas and also pay close attention to the information sessions they conduct on Saturday mornings which really is a clever unassuming sales pitch for the products they are using in the "How to" demonstration... and also how many people attend the various unique sessions giving you a quick glance into which home improvement niche may have more hungry/desperate buyers. P.S. where I'm at it's 2-3 bucks per sq. ft. to have someone else install hardwood floors on top of the hardwood floor pricing... I know, that's the next project for me and I'll be doing it myself for over 1200 sq. ft. of flooring for obvious reasons. |

I have a home improvement blog that makes about $50,000 a year from advertising (and to a smaller extent affiliate programs). What exactly are your monetization goals? Are you looking to make money from advertising and affiliate programs or from creating and selling your own information products? I think home improvement can be great for the former (we don't necessarily have the highest paying ads in the business but everyone has a home, so there is a lot of potential for traffic flow), but I am not sure you'd make a killing creating information products. (I'm sure it's possible, but I believe there are easier niches for that.) |

I'll give you good home improvement niche based on some quick research: "cheap closet organization system". Now go buy cheapclosetorganizationsystem.com before anyone else does. Create 10 or so original articles on closet organization that are rich in keywords related to our topic. Use the keywords in your titles and, if you use WordPress, use a theme that it dateless and optimized for SEO. Add your articles to the site gradually over about a week to 10 days. Do NOT monetize the site at this point. Make it look like a straight up informational site. Go out and build links for it via article marketing, directory submissions, social bookmarking, forum posting, blog commenting and so forth. You will need to build up a solid portfolio of backlinks. Don't obsess over your traffic statistics but keep an eye on them. Once you start getting a decent number of visitors arriving from search engines daily you can monetize the site. I suggest either Adsense or eBay Partner Network to get the best results. Since this is a more of a physical product, I'd recommend EPN as your first choice. Only use one method of monetization or one method with list building to get the best results. |

I guess there are some areas about home improvement and some I don't (closet organization being one of them) But that was a great post for seeing an action plan. I think I just need to get my lazy self of my tail and get to work on something and see what works and go from there. Any more post with ideas will be great. I need all the help I can get.

| http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...te-buyers.html You need to pick a niche that addresses a burning desire - that’s why weight loss - money gain sites are so popular - promote products that will get them a quickfix or shortcut method, how to ‘beat the system’ etc. If you are in a niche with less drive or desire for a CHANGE OF STATE > fat to thin > poor to rich > geeky virgin to superstud etc you are going to get less CTR on your Ads/Editorial links and therefore, less sales. PEOPLE WANT TO CHANGE!!! - SHOW THEM HOW! Also be mindful of a poor sales page by the seller - I had one PPC ad hitting over 200 clicks a day that converted to nothing because the sales pitch lacked proof of results…. I would suggest you link to your own review/editorial page with your hoplink embedded in Learn More, Free Trial, Buy Now buttons as this means that you can get them fired up for the product without costing you anything - if they drop out before the click through to the Sales page you lose nothing and if they do click through to the sales page they are more than twice as likely to buy! You can also monitor the percentages and tweak your sales page over time to improve CTR. Hope this helps! - Jared |

Pick a niche that address a person's pain. Where people are embarrassed and frantic for a solution. That's why Acne is such a hot niche. Look into things that "show" on people. That's why breast augmentation is a bigger field than penis enhancement. One shows where the other can be camouflaged with a sock .Another focused niche would be "Man Boobs". I'm going to quit now...but you get the idea. "Feel their pain"...but not their sock...or their tissue-stuffed...oh, shut up! |

"I can" is much more important than I.Q.

Pick a niche based on data. Data from Google keyword tool. See what people are searching for. Then see what the competition looks like by doing a search in Google. Look at allintitle too. How strong are the top listings in Google? Do they have the keyword(s) in the title? Look to see what affiliate programs there are that addresses the exact problem/issue or create your own product. Hope this helps... |

Yes, you definitely can do it the broad way and send traffic using micro niche articles, which I prefer since the blog will have far more growth opportunity in the long run. | |

I have a niche within the home improvement arena. I first built an Authority site. On this site, I am the Authority. It is appropriately named ASKBOYD.com (that's me, I am the Authority) Now that you believe that, allow me, the Authority, to direct you to my other site, HOMEAIRDIRECT.com. Here, you can buy Home Heating & Cooling Products and save up to 50% over the price of a contractor. So I have addressed a need, and helped to relieve a pain. The need is information, and they get that from the Authority Site. Then their pain is relieved at the store by saving them $$. I started all of this earlier this year, and we having $10,000 weeks now. I know that I am kind of a bastard calf among the IM crowd, but if you carve a small slice of the bigger niche out and concentrate on it, you will probably do well. Good Luck, Jay |
