Excellent Pod casting Resource....

Have you guys used podcasting to drive traffic?

A Simple technique would be to create a short audio and then push it to a lot of podcasting directories.,..

Here's the one my team mate Chris found out yesterday... Podcast submission service. Fast tagging and posting of podcasts to all major podcast directories - PodPusher.com . Its like the Social marker of Podcasting.

Hope this helps...

    Lakshay,

    Thank you for this post. May I ask a basic question? How do you drive traffic with a podcast? Is it the same as writing an article with your blog/web address at the end -- but in audio form? :confused:

    Please forgive my ignorance, I'm still very much a learner...

    John.

      Content=Traffic

      And

      Quality Content= Targeted Traffic

      That's the basic rule everywhere. Its just like Audio Blogging for your understanding. Create an audience for yourself by posting podcasts regularly with quality content in them.

      here's a comrehensive definition

      podcasting is a method of publishing audio broadcasts via the Internet. That allows its users to subscribe to a regularly updfated feed of new audio files.

        Ah, so the podcast is published directly on your website!

        Forgive me, I thought that the podcast was published on iTunes -- so I couldn't understand how the podcast drove traffic to the site. But now I understand; the podcast is another incentive to come to the site because it's on the site. And so the PodPusher website is another tool to help announce the content of the site...

        Got it!

        Thank you, Lakshay!

    Great resource. I have never used podcasts to get traffic however I have seen many others use them. I have a niche that this would probably work rather well in.

    Forgive me for my ignorance to the subject as well.

    What format do you put your podcasts in? I am assuming mp3?

      Yes, MP3 format is the way to go.

      The best thing about podcasts is that people can download it to their iPods and take it with them when they are on the go. Its much more likely to be shared between friends and your base of listeners/subscribers grows rapidly if you are providing some valuable information in an entertaining fashion. Humor is passed along well.

    It "Pushes" your Podcast feed to (currently) 63 Podcast
    directories. So you're likely to get targetted traffic from
    those directories where people search for audio content
    using your keyword/phrase.

    The feed should take people back to download your MP3.

    The other great benefit is the 63 backlinks to your site.

      Errrrrm.... John, about this Podcast "feed". Is that the web address of the podcast, or the podcast mp3 itself? Or is it the address of the folder containing all of the podcasts?

        I'd recommend pushind the RSS feed. Somehow I get the feeling its better. It can get you more listeners simply because its a syndicate of a group of podcasts at a time.

        Okay, I found the answer: the podcast 'feed' is a text file (XML) that details the names, sizes and uploading times of all the mp3 files in a sequence of podcasts.

    Also, don't forget to put a short audio advertisement for yourself in the podcast, like a radio commercial.

    You can push your feed or just give a link to the podcasts themselves like this
