I have been trying to write blogs, article writing, press release, documents to submit to different article directories, press release, link directories, and social marketing.

Question #1:

Google does not like duplicate content. My question #1: when I write an article to submit to the different article directories - these articles are the same in content and in titles. Do I get penalize on this for submitting same articles to different article directories?

Question #2:

After I write an article and I have an url, I go to the pingler site to ping this url. Would that amount to duplication material?

Or I go to the social marketing sites and refer people to the same url which shows the same content, is this related to duplicate material in google?

You probably know I am a bit confused as to how things are done with google and I want t play by the rule. Some internet gurus tell me not to repeat the same article to these press release sites. And yet some internet gurus also tell me the opposite that googles love repeated news, so I am a bit stuck as to who to listen to.

Some maybe some experts out here to clarify to me my understanding because I have loopholes in my thinking.

thanks in advance,
Rosa

It might be worth you doing a search on this forum for "duplicate content". These questions have been answered many times before and there are varying opinions and a few heated discussions about it. You will find plenty of info about it.

Having the same article for example, on your blog and submitted to an article directory - is not duplicate content.

On a sidenote: press releases are not articles! A press release has different requirements than an article or a blog post. Which means they should be written differently... should I say they are a different genre.

    This is really 1 question.

First there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty. That is a myth. What really exists is filtering. All those duplicate pages will eventually get indexed but only the page with the highest algorithmic page rank score on the day will show up on a search result page.

It is always best to change your content around. This way you get all your content indexed. Possibly even multiple listings to your different versions. Though you can still get benefit from the duplicated syndicated content. After all, they all have links, and follow or nofollow, duplicate or not, total link count adds to the overall result of the algorithms calculations.

SEO is a big topic and this is a short explanation but I hope that is easy enough to understand and hopefully this will help to get rid of the silly myth about duplicate content penalties once and for all.

    Unlikely though

Well, the only disadvantage that you will encounter most especially in ezinearticles - they will flag you or will not allow you to submit duplicate articles from other authors - but if it came from your own blog, it won't matter.
