Check your page text...
"I've provided some ad copy and banners for those of you who wish to boost your income with our affiliate program."
Great! I'll grab some and throw some traffic at it. So I scroll down to find:
- A bare affiliate link
- A cloaked affiliate link
- A basic redirect script
That's it. No copy. No banners.
Now, I know what happened here. The affiliate page has boilerplate text, and the seller forgot to edit out the part where it promises stuff that isn't actually there. And I've done that myself, so I just go "oh well" and don't worry about it.
In the IM niche, we can get away with that. We can be sloppy and forget things and fix them later, because our customers have been there and done that and we're one of them.
But if you're in some other niche, this is unprofessional and often unacceptable to your customers. (Some would argue it is both of those things in the IM niche, too.) So if you're selling something... please, walk through the sales process and make sure it doesn't have anything like this hiding in it.
