    Yes, there is PeterT....probably 1/2-3/4 of all the threads, on the front page right now, are all about article writing...

    People talk about it....use it....and tons of websites have been birthed catering to it. Why? Because it works.

        If you wrote an article especially for directory submission to the top article directories with full optimized keywords in a niche that is not over populated so you know it is going to get hits.

        My first question is why would you submit to those directories? Backlinks? Well apart from the top article directories your link will be just on the net unless it is scrapped by blogs and other web 2.0 sites. Even then you cannot control where your link is placed as it could be in a Bad Neighbour site which could cost your dear on your serps and pagerank.

        Another gripe I have with article directories is they leech of the persons hard work. I have noticed a few threads on forums how to get good search placement and how to get good traffic to there article when basically they are getting all the rewards via adsense or google ads and other affiliates and not the person who wants the credit for putting the time into writting the article.

        If you have a good article post it to your site and get the visitors that way. Personally I am not a fan of article directories. There is more than one way to get good backlinks and the main way I like to advise is good informative content that helps the user and the net and word of mouth

        Thats my take on the situation.

          You do know that there are directories out there that actually share revenue with users....and a substantial amount, at that? That's one of the reasons why it boggles my mind why some will even go so far as to pay $97+/ month, for a premium membership to EZA....

          You can gain similar benefit and search engine authority elsewhere.

      Word of warning: Some article directories will ban you if they find the same article with different author names. Don't convert articles you submitted to article directories into PLR.

    Article marketing like most things on the internet in order to be successful has to be done the correct way.

    The Traffic Addict who you can search for on the forum has offers running that will teach you the correct way to write and market your articles. When done correctly, the article will bring traffic to your website and product offering. Herein is where there is another potential problem for if you have successfully brought traffic to your website to promote your product or services or someone else's product of services and you do not get conversions, you do not earn.

    Watch out, many of these so called article directories have gone nofollow now. The traffic you get is at a minimum. Most are basically sites where people dump keyword loaded garbage "articles" that seem to be written by a seven year old hoping to get exposure. This will not help your product or service.

    Like the others have shared, knowing how to write well-optimized articles is very useful for marketing purposes. Also, you may be able to sell your writing services or even sell your actual articles online.

    There are a few ways in which you can approach it, but, yes, there is money in article writing.

    i did article writing to get started in this industry actually...i quickly learned that the people who were paying me dirt to write articles had it figured out a little better than me hahah. Article writing served its purpose for me, but I will never doing again.

    As long as you have the time to submit quality stuff, you can see good results from it. However, if you submit stuff that isn't good, it can damage your credibility. Readers can tell if you take shortcuts, so put the effort in!!

    There is money to be made but there are so many variables to a successful article marketing campaign that writing and submitting a few quality articles will not be enough to generate a high income.

    In some cases you will need to market your articles and you will need to understand how each article directory can benefit you, because they are all different.

    You will need to submit your written content to a multitude of other online locations - Basically if there is available virtual real estate you want it canvassed with your content.

    Keep in mind that any traffic you send your site from article marketing is one less visitor you had to pay for via PPC so in a way you are already ahead just from each visitor your article brings into your marketing funnel.
