Default 7 daily emails is winner in split test, and other split-test results

I've read in Alex Mandossian's article that in a split-test he made regarding Auto-Responder Follow-Up E-Mails:

7 daily e-mail reminders in 7 days is the WINNER, and 7 weekly e-mail reminders in 7 weeks is the Loser.

So receiving daily emails ain't that bad after all? He also revealed the winner and loser in other split-tests he conducted. Read the article at:

The “Magic Question” for Business Growth, Success, and Prosperity

Cheers,
Michael

If I got 7 emails in a week to remind me to buy a product of yours...
So long good luck...

Michael,

It's worth pointing out that Alex's message was to run your
own split tests
on the factors that are likely to show the
best improvement in your circumstances.

Not all markets will stand daily emails.. I know I've tested a
lot of niche markets myself.

Steve,

Fine, that's what you say you would do.

But then, you would be just one person among a list
of many and unsubscribes are one of the costs of
testing.

There are likely to be others who will actually respond
to a high frequency of email by making a purchase.

I think it's important that we take a balanced view and
look at the overall results of our own tests.

7 emails is waay too much. I agree that balance is important. However, Tellman sends this many and is very successful with it.

Depends on the niche. Depends on the content.

Daily emails would annoy many people... but maybe not Alex's subscribers.

I didn't do any split tests, but I did a survey of my subscribers (used SurveyMonkey) and asked them what they wanted and how often they wanted it. They wanted a monthly ezine. (This is a non-IM niche.) So I gave it to them (and continue giving it to them). My very low unbsubscribe rate shows me it's working.

The gauge of whether something works or not: sales..

If your sales go down over the long term, then it didn't work..

If they go up, it did work (and hence, is not mailing 'too much').

I've seen that 7 daily emails works better, too.. short term AND long term. I have multiple lists built off the same squeeze page, and have tested various different approaches.. all that's left for me to test is to do a launch to the various lists.

Yes - I personaly ignore the flood of emails from guys like tellman and filsaime... but I've come to the conclusion that evidently I am not typical.

Coincidentally, I was just reading that article earlier today, and now it's been posted here.

Don't forget that as well as testing FREQUENCY, you can also test the CONTENT.

7 days of SOFT SELL may work better than 7 days of HARD SELL, or vice versa, or some combination of HARD and SOFT.

I'll stop talking now in case someone starts thinking I'm talking about something else...

You're right, Paul. One idea is to provide helpful tips related to the course, then subtly direct them to your site if they want the prime meat. If they're impressed by the free tips, it increases the chances of buying the course.

I think it depends on what you're sending them every day for seven days.
