domain redirect to affiliate

Hi,

I'm hoping someone could maybe clarify something for me.

I have maybe found a search term that I would like to try and buy my own domain for it but I am wondering if I have to actually write content on a page or is it allowed to just have my domain redirect to the page selling the item. I would probably be thinking of going with Amazon associates.

I have been doing a bit of research, and I got micro niche finder to help me. My search keyword search is two words, according to micro niche finder it has 6.600 local and 20,000 global. The bits I don't quite understand are, the exact phrase count is 0, ad cost is 0.65, oci is 65%, mob is 5 and soc is 0.

If my phrase were say "big shoes" and I made a website big-shoes.com would that mean my website would come up as number one even without any content as soon as someone searched for big shoes in google? or would I have to put content into a page? At the moment amazon is the number one for this item.

If I do have to do a page, is one page enough or would I have to do an actual site?

I'm in the process of making a wordpress site for practice but for this item I think it would be overkill.

I have another question to add to this. If redirecting is worthwhile without page content is it then possible to just buy the domain and have them redirect using your affiliate link to the page you want them to redirect to or do you need to use hosting?

If you do only a redirect your site is not being INDEXED for that keyword. Because you have no content, only a redirect. So your whole keyword research is moot.

mean my website would come up as number one even without any content as soon as someone searched for big shoes in google?
HELL NO. I wish You need a good, high quality site with content. And you need to understand basic on-site SEO and off-site (backlinks) principles. Ranking can be very tough, depending on niche. Imagine you would only need a domain with the keyword in it and can rank #1 in Google with a simple redirect. We would all be millionaires.

      hahah,

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask you something else. Would you buy the .com and .co.uk ?

With no other websites matching this exact phrase would it be easy enough with a few pages of content to make it to the top of the list within a few days or would this take a while?

I would get the .com - simply because you might have a hard time ranking globally with the .uk.

And the ranking success would depend on your niche/keyword(s) primarily, your competition and so forth. Did you do some keyword research eg. with market samurai? Its rather unlikely that you have zero competitors for a KW which has some search volume, usually.

I didn't do it in market samurai but I will have a look at that software next. I bought micro niche finder to get the statistics. When I do the search in google Amazon has a paid link and is the top 4 but this exact keyword phrase doesn't appear. After that it's wikipedia and a could of forums.

Does that not mean I would have a good chance of getting ranked higher if I make a site specifically on this one product?
