I've heard blogs and product review landing pages, but can TLD redirected links be as effective?

For example, if you redirect an article straight to a affiliate link using a top level domain. I was wondering if this works, and can it be as effective as a blog or a website landing page which then redirects to affiliate link when talking about conversions?

I'm currently trying both out, just wondering from ppl's experiences... thanks.

    I prefer to use a Pre sell landing page so buy the time they get to the affiliate site they are already super targeted and ready to buy, so that is when I throw up the opt in list to give something away free so I can build a relationship through email while increasing regular traffic and higher conversion rates.
