Article marketing - backlinks and directories?

Hi!

I'm new to article marketing. I have just made my first sale using it and are very exited about that. Started out a few weeks ago.

I have submitted 10 articles to Ezine articles, got 112 views, 17 clicks and 1 sale.

The problem I see is that my articles aren't getting so much traffic as I want. I have been doing some keyword research but no backlinking.

I have read in the forum about posting the articles to other directories and put an extra link to the ezine article in the resoursebox for baclinking.

I want to try this but I have some questions.

1. Which directories should I focus on and how many?
2. Is it any better way or complementary way of doing back linking to articles?
3. Ezine articles has a rule of just 3 words in the anchortext. Is it the same for most of the directorys? Should I then use keywords with maximum 3 words so I can put the keyword as an anchortext?

Some questions. I would be very grateful if you could take some time and answer 1 or more.

Thanks!

congrats on your success, you did pretty well with 112views, 1 sales

you should look at your articles categories in ezinearticles, you'll find the 10top most viewed articles, steal their keywords and write content around these keywords

you need to have your own blog , where you republish your aticles

get your ezinearticles profile RSS and submit to rss directories, this will boost the views of your actual articles

don't worry about the 3 words limit in anchor text, you need to get backlinks to your articles from others sites

be sure to target keywords with high volumes of searches

    my 2 cents

The keyword steal was a good idea, thanks.

Why do I need a blog? Right now I'm re-direct a domain to an affiliate product. So the visitors from my articles get directly to the affiliate site. What is the benefit of a blog? I have thought of building a list when I start getting some sales and see that this is working. But one thing at the time

Where can I get my ezinearticles profile RSS?

I don't understand why I shouldn't care about the 3 word limit in anchor text? If I have a keyword that is 5 words long and I can just have 3 of them in the anchor text it wont be a relevant link, will it?

Building links and other content pointing to your site is something that will provide cumulative results over time. Some of the article sites are 99% composed of a bunch of articles submitted for SEO purposes and have very few people actually reading the articles, so the click thru and conversion rates are going to be low.

You may also want to consider submitting to some link directories. Free Directory List - SEO Friendly - Info Vilesilencer has a good list. Also commenting on blogs, posting on forums and submitting to social bookmarking sites are things you might want to try.

What you do is going to develope cumulatively over time, so be patience but be persistent!

I guess this tip is for people having a blog or website. I can't do linkbuilding this way for every article, can I? Guess it will take a lot of time.

If you write articles that are over 400 words (i think its 400) You can have up to 5 words in anchor text

Thats true, but shorter articles are not considered for EZA's most viewed section either.

Guess you should try and test 10 250 word articles at the same time as 10 400+ word articles and see which perform better

I didn't know that, thanks. Yes, that would be a good test.

Correct, articles over 400 words that are submitted to EZA are offered the ability to use resource links that are up to 5 words as long as they had value ot the article and are not blatent attempts to manipulate anchor text.

Also, I'd probably push to have the articles hit closer to 450 words in length just in case any future changes are made at EZA to migrate upwards.

      Respectfully,
      Tim
