How I keep My subscribers reading my emails

I would have to say that my best strategy for keeping and building a good relationship with my list is to provide good solid useful information.

I sign up to a lot of lists most of them I stay on but some I unsubscribe to pretty fast.

the reason I unsubscribe to these lists is because they don't provide any useful information.

People don't sign up to lists so they can read ads all day , but if you are providing useful information that your list can use while developing a good relationship more people will stay on your list and read your emails.

It will be much easier to get your message across to your readers and achieve your goals.

I agree. I have unsubscribed to 9/10 of the Big Names' lists that offered the bonuses for the "Stomping the Search Engines 2" promotion.

It's been nothing but a spam-fest. Howie Schwartz is the one exception. He has been offering solid info in videos that he does. He sells, too, but not the way the others do, filling my inbox with multiple affiliate offers every day.

Some people see ALL selling as "spam". Unfortunately, some of our potential customers are like this, too. This is a fact that we have to keep top of mind.

Chris IF you have ever said anything positive about ANY post on this forum I might fall out of my chair!

I suppose you have NEVER signed up to a list and then gotten bombarded by the typical email with nothing but buy links, affiliate links to other products.

We all know that the pitch is coming but it goes down MUCH smoother IF the person has built up a some sort of "relationship" with their subscribers by giving good advice, solid information and actually answers email questions about whatever they are selling.

You must be a very lucky man to have NEVER experienced these SPAMFESTS!

A great example of someone that over delivers is Paul Myers. His newsletters always have great info, he build trust and confidence in his subscribers and does NOT spam them to death with nothing but offers!

Would you sign up for a Newsletter if it was called a "Salesletter?"

"Join now and receive dozens of emails stuffing your inbox each and every week until you buy whatever it is I'm selling! Then you will get even more emails, because you have bought what I'm selling and I want MORE out of you!"

Personally when I join someones Newsletter list that is what I'm looking for. Give me CONTENT and USEFUL information BEFORE you start blasting me with "buy now, the price goes up in 22 hours" kind of garbage.

Relationship building through follow up emails and freebies (Esp. vidoes because they have a much higher percieved value than just text)

Then pre launch before every affiliate offer, I typically send out an affiliate promotion a week. But before I do that, I give them some really niche information for free so that they get all salted up. Obviously I do not really go for promoting low ticket items. but still I have had just 59 people unsubscribe my list over all this time. Thats less than 4%.

The idea is to give them a lot of valueable free informastion that builds up the desire for more information about that and then hit them with an affiliate offer, and finally follow up with them once to let them know that some peoplle have already purchasedf and its the last chance they have to get your exclusive (FREE BONUS). And yes, I said it. Do a free bonus EVERY TIME>

If I sign up for a list, the emails I get from it are not spam. That is the whole point of having an optin list.

Whether they have buy links or affiliate links or anything else is not relevant. What is relevant is that I signed up for the list!

Just because that is news to you is no need to post insults. Did you even read my post? It was a question!

Do you have problems with people asking questions? I guess false spam accusations are OK, but questions aren't?

Hey Chris,

It becomes spam when you got my email address by making me sign up for your list to receive a bonus that was advertised as something I'd get for free when I ordered another product. Then, It's "Here's the download link", and then literally, 2 and 3 emails (from the same person) each and every day for EVERY product they can get an affiliate link for. There is no useful content in any of the emails, only the pitch. Hell, there wasn't much useful content in the bonus I got from them, to begin with. Just rehashed regurgitated nothing, that could have been found in some PLR package.

They claim they are a guru, but the only advise they give is "If you want to understand this, click the link below and you will get the info that answers all your prayers, just $197, plus $67 each month thereafter..."

I get several pitches per day from each of these gurus. I'd open my email account and have, literally, 22 unopened emails waiting for me. And this was an account I opened just for the Stomper Bonuses. I am so glad I didn't give up my primary email address!

So yea, Chris, I consider that abuse. I call that SPAM. Just because you give me some little PLR content report, doesn't give you the right to bombard my email excessively, for no other reason than to ask me for money. And it definately doesn't take away my right to unsubscribe from such tripe. But if you like that sort of thing, give me your email address and I can forward it all on to you.

Bottom line, for me, if you haven't given me any useful information in the past 3 months (especially if you email me regularly), I'm unsubscribing, period. There's too much clutter in my life. I'm thinning the herd of those I trust and listen to. If they want my trust, and my money, give me something in return for the privilege. There has to be some give, and not all take.

Now, for someone who gets it right, (a Warrior right here on this forum), is Takuya Hikichi. He gives solid content, and I'd buy one of his products in a heartbeat!

Takuya, I've been meaning to let you know this, but I'll do it publicly, right now.

I got on this guy's list 3-4 weeks ago, and I get excited whenever I see his newletter in my inbox. It's called "The Action Takers Newsletter", and it's Da Bomb! When you go to his webpage: www.asktak.com ,you are greeted with this headline:

"Download 1514 Different Private Label Rights Materials to Put Your Name, Edit and Promote As Your Own Products"

He's not selling anything. He's giving useful content, right from the start. He over-delivers. It's not advanced rocket science, it's basic "Meat & Potatoes", rock solid info that you can put to use and actually make some money. And when he pitches something (which, to date, he hasn't) I'm going to take notice and be more willing to reach into my wallet and buy that bad boy, just because he has given me sound advice, and I now trust his judgement. I don't think he even makes pitches. His only advertising is with his Sig File at the end of his newsletter. (refreshing!)

This is not some pitch I'm making, and I'm not affiliated with him in anyway. This is just a public thank you, as well as a good example of how it's supposed to be done.

You are right about joining a list, that part is completely YOUR choice. BUT did you sign up to get good content and information OR just sign up to be blasted by affiliate and buy me now links.

Be blasted by emails with NOTHING but BUY BUY BUY is NOT what I want to read AND I feel like they are spamming me with their "one in a lifetime" offers that last not once but daily...that's spam in my book!

And since MOST of the lists people sign up for contain nothing BUT these affiliate and buy links I drop them very quickly!

Like I said, if YOU want to see how it's done properly then read Paul Myers Newsletter. If not, and YOU are happy receiving, and most probably trashing these email then have a go at it!

Yeah, I've only been online since 1997 and a member here since 2004 so I guess you could call me a newbie!

SPAM is in the eye of the beholder NOT a definition!
