Hey everyone,

Is anyone using linkedin in any cool ways to market their business? I am looking at it now to see what opportunities their are and some ideas would be great.

    Hi Sam

I'd be interested to see how you go with this.. whilst I am not actively marketing on LinkedIn, I have my theories on how to use it & would be interested to see if they actually work..

The reason I haven't used LinkedIn to market as yet, is that I actually use it for my offline job (I work for a software company) but I'm thinking there is definitely something there..

One thing for sure, in order to be successful on LinkedIn, you need to build up your connection count. Become a LinkedIn Open Networker (LION) for starters & once you get over 500 connections you generally get automatically invited to join groups like TopLinked.com etc that will help you skyrocket your connections. Right now I'm on 2700+ connections & growing.

Many of the people that link with me send me an email through the auto email sending feature that LinkedIn has & these emails are typically emails that promote themselves, their business or a product. I've never actually bought any of them & I'd also be interested to know how successful these people are.

If you are interested in some of my ideas on marketing on LinkedIn, PM me & we can exchange ideas. I can also help you on some tips on getting connections quicker..

Either way.. good luck with it all!

LinkedIn rocks for B2B stuff and genuine business interests.

Not so much for the typical affiliate marketing spam/MLM/Biz Ops stuff.

LinkedIn is one of my bigger marketing vectors, but it absolutely requires hands-on work, developing genuine relationships with people, direct communication, etc... things that a huge contingency of internet marketers simply don't want to do.

You can try paid advertisement of LinkedIn and it can be a huge success if your offering is correct to the audience at LinkedIn.
Since LinkedIn has a niche of every level, spread from bottom of the hierarchy to the top executives. One can actually pitch and tap to the audience of his own choice.

I am huge on LinkedIn marketing. I have a video on how to use it in my Warrior Room Social Group on link in my signature. It really depends on what you are looking for, it is great for joint ventures and local business. It is also your online resume, if you are trying to sell your services of Internet Marketing to offline business, this is great place to establish and brand yourself as a leader.

Have not really used Linked in for marketing, though I would encourage everyone to include a link to their website(s) in their profiles.

One question I have about Linked In...do you really have to go through profiles one-by-one to connect with members?

I know I can upload my contacts in my email database, but I find a lot of people I know - either through groups that we mutually belong or through random search - and want to connect to all of them. Many I don't have emails for.

Linked in doesn't seem to have a mass connect tool so I go through them one by one, spending hours at a time clicking their profile, how I know them, and so on. Any advice to connect with a whole bunch of people at once?

    Regards,
    Dino

Michael is 100% correct - Linked In is a different "ball game" - you have to be serious.

I did some googling and you can check out these -

Noticed that you can hook your EZA articles up with them - not exactly sure how it works. Snoop around and you'll find it.

I've often wondered about this myself. Years ago, I started a LinkedIn group called 'Elearning 2.0' which now ranks about 4th in search results for the term "e-learning," and my group now has over 6,000 active, engaged members. I've often wondered how I might monetize this but never seemed to figure out the right traction. This will be an interesting thread to watch for ideas and suggestions.
