You know, the biggest obstacle you're likely to face is simply that there are so many ways to do everything. Paralysis by analysis is a real danger.

Pick one thing and do it until it is getting results and the results continue to grow with less effort. Then, and only then, pick something else and add it to the mix.

Article marketing carries with it some degree of backlinking and has a very low bar to entry. It also helps develop several other skill sets that will make other things easier later and it teaches a certain amount of discipline.

You could do worse than starting with that.

Just do my approach and start loads of different things. Then if anything makes money, do more of it!!!

Please try to make a to do list and try to follow it else I am afraid it will be too much for you to digest ,and expect at least 6 months for any returns

I think a lot of it depends on your experience and qualifications. Are you good at writing articles? Do you have the ability and time to put your thoughts into a computer screen?

Link building take a long time.

Product promotion - how do you plan on promoting the products? Do you have a blog, forum or website? Are you going to have to buy advertising? Is this a physical object, like a backpack, or some kind of electronic product like an ebook?

If this is a physical item, you could open an amazon store, and sell the stuff directly through amazon. That would also take care of the advertising.

You can start by this new methods

a. Write 3 - 4 articles a day. Instead of submitting to regular article directories, submit them sites where you think your targeted audiences are hanging. They could be
1. Facebook
2. Twitter
3. Forums
4. Ning communities.
5. Memebership sites
6. High profile article directories
7. Blogs that accept guest posts.

Send emails to more people but do not spam, they accept because they always look for ways to provide value to their subscribers. You can find these blog owners in forums.
Another set of people who constantly look for good articles is membership site owners. Join few membership sites and keep posting your articles in their forums. If you do it regularly, they can even provide a permanent banner on their site to your blog. Just imagine how effective this method is.

c. Integration marketing: Once you provide valuable info to their subscribers, you can request the blog owner to place a permanent link to your blog in their "Thank you" page.
This strategy alone sends a minimum of 500 subscribers every month.
d. Convert into different forms:
Convert your article into PDF's and submit them to different document directories like
scribd.com
docstoc.com
yudu.com
issuu.com
calameo.com
Convert the same article into video and podcasts and submit them to different directories.
e. Tweet swaps: Do you know about this? Yes, you can find people who are willing to tweet your content and in return you should tweet their content. You can find swap partners in forums.
f. Ezine advertising: This is about advertising your article in newsletters of others. You need to pay a fee depending on the number of subscribers the newsletter has. Very powerful! You can find them in bestezines.com
