18 years old and requiring some newbie info on affiliate marketing please...

ive no doubt that you guys have seen many many many of these threads over your time on these forums but well heres another...

ive spent a week or so just browsing on these forums and decided to finally register in a bid to try get some more individual help as i really think the members on here could help me significantly.

so, a little under 2 weeks ago, i started looking into making money online, ive got my own site and domain etc. (although its not very good) ive tried numerous things to help me get a little income. but to no avail...

ive spent a fair bit already on ebooks etc. and they have helped to a certain extent but not massively.

anyway, so i decided to look into affiliate marketing, at first i tried putting loads of affiliate links on my website and try promoting my site...FAILED!

so i decided the best course of action for me would be to focus on one product to promote, ive done this for about 3 days now just focusing on the one product and yesterday i decided to track how many clicks its getting. as of now i have had a little under 300 clicks in about 16 hours but no buyers. now i understand it takes time and everything but im starting to worry im just wasting my money.

ive sent out emails to my lists and in 16 hours, i think 300 ish clicks isnt too bad. but those clicks need to turn into buys. im promoting it using social networking, email lists and through friends. my clickbank balance still shows no income though. im starting to think this has been a big waste of time and money!

ive also done my own product which ive put on ejunkie but nothing on that either. however, i can understand this, as i thought it would be easy to make my own eboko so just shot it together fairly quickly. im charging £9.00 for it though which is in my opinion cheap and it can work if the user wants it to.

i suppose what im really wanting for is just buyers but promoting clickbanks products seem to be getting a fair few clicks but no buys so im just wondering if any of you have any tips on what could turn them into potential buyers.

the product im promoting has a good gravity and has its own affiliate promotional products to help me so im using all of those too.

thanks in advance for any help.

kind regards
me

Wow, you're younger than my daughter.

Best advice I can give you is this.

Get a hold of a recognized book on the subject. Chris Rempel has an
    excellent one.

Study it thoroughly and implement the strategies to the letter. Don't try
    to improvise at first.

As you begin to do this, you will find some things that maybe need some
tweaking. As you gain experience, you will be able to do this.

There is no easy road to learning affiliate marketing to the point where
you're going to make a nice living from it. It takes time and patience but
most of all, solid fundamental knowledge.

My daughter, who knows nothing about marketing and has no desire to
learn her dad's business, through trial and error and some smarts of her
own, gets like 30 visitors to her blog daily. So it is possible to make this
work with just a little knowledge.

Good luck with whatever you do.

What do your friends and followers want to buy?

This seems to be the missing link. As someone who wants to earn money online, you're in the minority among your friends, so the things you want might just not resonate with them.

Just taking a stab in the dark, your friends probably want to play video games and get laid... so I'd propose an Amazon affiliate account alongside some collected reviews of video games, and some less-expensive Clickbank dating products. (Probably not "Get Your Ex Back.")

Steven's an expert on this whole affiliate thing, so his advice is excellent, but even while you're learning... hell, experiment. You can't exactly make less than nothing testing a new product mix.

    Hello

The main thing is whatever you offering must be relevant to your site visitors need and make sure your web content relevant your product otherwise you can have all the traffics but it won't convert. Another thing i would suggest you is that find a coach who can guide you to right direction this alone would save you a lot of time and frustration.

    Best Wishes!

Analyze your failed project(s) and determine why they fail.

Start a new project based on previous projects and stay away from the mistakes.

It's time consuming, but it works. Trial and error.

Or you could just invest in a proven system and try to make it work. It all depends if you have time to spare.

Your asking the million dollar question, of which, I dont think there is a one-size-fits-all answer.

I think a lot of it boils down to how much time you want to put into the project, your resources, and your qualifications.

If you want something fast and easy - buy a ready to go squeeze page.

If you want to build a real website or blog, then what kind of knowledge do you have? What kind of life experiences do you have? What are some of your hobbies?

Then take those resources and put them towards building a site. Or, you could just buy an existing site in the niche your interested in.

One of my favorite examples is Toms Hardware - its started off as a simple computer hardware review site, and it turned into an internet icon.

Once your doing something you enjoy, its no longer a job.
