greetings,

i work for a small service company and we want to send an eMail to companies all over the country - how would you start this kind of project ?

i was thinking about a tool, that works like a spider and that i can feed with keywords like "garages" and that filters me the eMail adresses and other information from my target companies.

Also i was thinking about to outsource the job and pay somebody to check the internet for companies and find out eMail adresses and so on.

i know, i have to start from zero with all this, but i would be very happy if you could suggest me how to start, where to look, what software and all that.

many thanx
Lorin

I hope you're not intending to send unsolicited emails to these companies.

Quoted from E-mail spam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spam has several definitions varying by source.

    * Unsolicited bulk e-mail (UBE)—unsolicited e-mail, sent in large quantities.
    * Unsolicited commercial e-mail (UCE)—this more restrictive definition is used by regulators whose mandate is to regulate commerce, such as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
Before you do this you might want to check:

    Be careful.
What you are saying sounds really spammy.

Don't do this, especially if you are sending to businesses - REALLY don't!

Individuals might respond or in most cases just flush your mail, but businesses take things a bit more seriously.

Instead, why not find the addresses of these firms and send an individually hand addressed and stamped envelope with your brochure and even a letter (professionally copy-written if you can afford it) to the actual owners of these businesses using their actual name as well as that of the business?

I guarantee your response will be 1000 times better and you wont go to jail as an added bonus!

That's called spam and can ruin the reputation of the company you work for as well as it's illegal. You have to build a list of people who have opted in to receive your email.

You could 'rent' a list from a magazine or group that caters to people in your target group. Some magazines have opt-in lists that are approved to receive messages.

Normally the group will send your message for you.
