Found something worth promoting. But how do I go about it?

I recently started getting into Clickbank and I'm still trying to figure out how it really works. The product I found to promote looks promising, but I need a way to get it out there. I tried landing pages and websites, but to no avail. Help please!

    What EXACTLY have you tried?

Just putting up a landing page or website?

How did you promote them to get traffic?
    Signature

Making Calls To Sell Something? What are you actually saying?
Is there any room for improvement? Want to find out?

Internet Marketing requires patience and a lot of work.
It is not enough to get a good product and set up a site.
You really need to plan, to build a strategy to drive your traffic. To implement it. To track it. And to improve it.
That's the way it works. There is no magic formula here.

I have tried all the free things that you can get SOME sort of audience. Like craigslist and such. But they always get flagged for some reason. Also, I have done SEO on my landing pages, and linked to it from my high traffic blog site. I'm trying to appeal to parents with children, because I feel this product would give people more peace of mind. And it popped out to me instantly.

Of course there is no magic formula, or everyone would be doing it huh? I guess I should be more clear. My problem is with all the hard work put into any sort of marketing or web page building and SEO work, it seems like it's all done for nothing.
I'll tell you this, I'm not trying to get rich by any means. Just a supplemental income would be nice. To cover small things that nickel and dime you to death.
Patience hasn't always been something that I have been good at. I've tried Internet Marketing off and on for the past 2 years to no avail. But, I'm willing to give it another shot!
So anyone with tips and tricks or even just some words of advice, it would be nice to hear what you have to say

My blog is political, so no. I started it as more of a place to just put thoughts down, kind of a catch all blog scene. I wasn't looking for niche anything. I just wanted to see what people had to say about things. So it targets no one area specifically, but it's leaning more towards politics

    You need a sales system.

Here is one way to promote a product:

Find a really killer idea that the product you are promoting can be used for. Now put up a blog/landing page/whatever where you talk about this great idea and then eccommend the product you are promoting that will enable the reader to put that idea into action today.

When a reader is interested, and you write about a good idea, you will stir his emotions, you will get him excited. No better time to hit him with the product offer that he can use right now to take action on the idea.

Thanks Sam, that helps alot. But the problem I'm getting is this. I see alot of people surfing through sites and whatnot. Like at the library and such. When they see an ad, even for something they either will use, or use already, they don't even click on it or anything. But then they will go out and buy it. So how do I get a person to see my offer and realize that it's right there in front of him. And that hes got to do something about it.
It's like when I see on some of these pages, when you go to click out, they do a pop up offering the same product for a lower price just because you wanted to exit. Do you even think about it twice? Even if you are in the market for it. Usually not, you put it to the back of your head saying "maybe later" And that's what I think alot of people do when they see anything.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is this. What do I do to make it the most appealing to the eye and the brain? I know I can write up a storm and stir emotions. But would it work on everyone that I'm trying to get it across to? Or is there something I can do that will appeal to the audience as a whole?

Exit Popups. They are used to "recycle" traffic. 98 - 99% of the people who look at your site will not buy the first time. That's why you need to get them on a list. Back to the Exit Pop Up. Why do all the effort to drive traffic, then let 99% of people leave without buying. This is a very effective technique. Mabey your traffic is not really interested in your offer but might be interested in a similiar offer, put that offer in your Exit Pop. On the exit pop put a count down timer for 30 secs, after 30 secs the offer will expire for ever, no more half price. Use ip tracks to only display exit pop to visitors once.

Copywriting. Spesifically Scarcity. Put a time limit on the offer or limit the number of copies that will be sold. When something is limited, it's value skyrockets. People will
take action instead of saying "maybe later". Use a definite number like 300. Keep
your word and pull the offer after 300 copies. Next time people will fall over themselfs
to get in before the offer expires.

No. It will work on maybe 2% of the people. By constant testing, tweaking and implementing techniques like listbuilding, you can push up that number considerably.

Here is a very basic plan. Most of the people who sell information online makes use of this model:

      1. Drive Traffic (targetd traffic) to a squeeze page
      2. Get visitors to opt-in to your list
      3. Ongoing sales to those people on your list

Basic, but very effective. That is all you need really. Of course, entire books can be written on each of the 3 steps to make it work better.

I used to direct link my PPC ads on yahoo and bing to the actual salesletters and see if I break even. If I do (or lose a little bit) then that's usually a winner.

You can run several campaigns and see which ones are winners. Again, I'd usually spend on testing twice what the affiliate commission. So if commission is 60 bucks and I spent 125 and still haven't gotten any sales - I stop promoting it.

Maybe your blog is not where the most targeted traffic will come.

Look for good keywords for your product. Enough daily searches and small competition. A rule of thumb can be more 500 daily searches and less than 500K competitors. Keep in mid this can vary from case to case. With this chances are that with a good SEO you rank in page 1 of Google SERP.

Set a mini site, not just a sales pages, with a little valuable information about the topic.

Use article marketing to promote it.

Is there really a future in this kind of marketing? I mean, I see all this talk about how great it is and whatnot. But, how many people do you know that have actually made this their job and earned their living from it? I don't know any. So does that mean that we are all doing it wrong? Or that we just aren't putting in the effort? Or are we trying too hard in the wrong areas? Who really knows???? I would like some answers and some input on this subject. And if anyone knows how to become an effective Internet Marketer, feel free to post here. I'm sure that alot of people can get something out of it.

I do. However, I just started to make a good income after I decided to become a full-time internet marketer.
Becoming an internet marketer requires a lot of work and study, as many other business. Just after I decided to seriously dedicate all my efforts to it, I become successful.

Thanks for all of your input guys. So,what I hear you guys saying is this. Put more time into Strategy, Planning, and THEN executing. Instead of doing things so fast I lose track of where I started. Because I can sure do things in bursts. But then I get lost on where to go next. I think I'm just doing some things wrong and need to learn the market a little better before spending more time IN it. I should probably just read about how people "think" this should work. And then see if there is a common denominator in what they are saying.
And how do you say you're making enough money, and steady enough money, to quit your real job? And do you just keep expanding on what you know to keep the money flowing? Or move onto the next best thing?

Yes. If you haven't done it yet, learn a system. Get a good training program ans study it. Learn as much as you can from it and aply what you learn.
Even doing that, chances are that at the beginning you don't see the expected results. This usually is because you have done wrong some step in the process (like choosing bad keywords, not optimizing well...). You have to keep learning, acting, tracking your results, and improving.

What do you need for living? When you make it with IM, you are making enough money.
I did quit my job way before doing and steady enough income. And, as I have said, only then I started to dedicate all the time this business requires and see the expected results.

you also mentioned you used craigslist and you got flagged, I also use craigslist and have had success with it, but you have to be real careful and follow their rules. Don't post a ton of ads at a time, just a couple and make sure you don't post the exact same ad twice - the system will not allow it too publish. So make sure you switch up your ads a bit, hope that helps, I have found that craigslist can be pretty effective, you just have to tread carefully.

There are some good programs out there.
It depends on your level of knowledge.
If you are an absolute beginner, you can get the free course there is my resource box. It is absolutely free.
If you are a little more advance, commission blueprint can be a great choice.
