Hello Warriors,

I have been reading a lot on this forum for some time now. I am one of those who are struggling to find their feet on the internet. I have been online for the past 9 months and never made anything except the 82 dollars in my adsense account and I am determined to get something even if it is 100 dollars this month.

After reading so much here I decided through the help of tess47 to use squidoo for traffic and she also directed me on how to go about it. I know she is very good but I also want others to share with me their tips and ideas.

Here is my first lens fastest way to lose weight. Is it good, do I need to add some other things, what am I doing wrong ? What do you think I can do better ? Why is google not indexing the lens even after pinging and adding it to about 5 social sites ?

Rate my lens

First, I'd add an RSS feed from your weight loss blog. That might get more visitors to your blog.

I might change the opening to something like How to Lose Weight Fast. Or, How to Overcome Weight Loss Challenges. Your opening sentence about weight loss being simple probably makes many people think you don't know what you're talking about...because if weight loss was simple, everyone would be able to do it. Your premises following that statement are good because they are very true.

Those premises, however, and the following articles support the idea that weight loss is NOT simple.

If you have similar articles on your blog, you should link from your Squidoo articles to your blog articles and vice versa using good anchor text.

Weight loss is an extremely competitive topic for search engine traffic, whether you are shooting for short or long tail keyword traffic.

You have a lot of content, but if it is not original, you will probably be penalized by Google. From a human standpoint, it's not easy on the eyes at all. However, when you are new to Squidoo, it takes a while to learn how to compose content rich pages with an array of modules that not only look good but that break up your content into bite-sized pieces.

You also don't have any outbound links or SEO besides keyword density, which isn't always human-friendly.

The best thing to do as a Squidoo noob is to do some research within the site and learn what successful lensmasters are doing and then imitate it.

I made Giant Squid in 2 months by doing just that.

    Hope this helps :-)

Good lens I would add rss if you have it from your own blog
images, video and some of the products from ebay and amazon.

    Just my opinion.

      @icjackson my articles are original.

Thanks to every one, the lens has finally been indexed by google but no one is visiting it. Maybe I am rushing or something.

I have tried to add my rss to the lens but I don't know the url for the rss ( I am a total newbie.)

I think the url should be http://onlineweightlossexpert.com/blog/atom.xml ( I am not sure)

    Hey,

First of all. Nice lens, but in my opinion the content should be broken down a little. The content is good, but there's way too much to read and it becomes boring for the visitor.
I would recommend to break down your articles in to 2 or 3 extra modules. I can guarantee that it would look much better than it is now.

I would add some images as well. Cuz text without images suckz ;D
Most of the time when people take a new book in their hands - they look for cool images )

And finally, how long did it take you to get indexed?

    Good luck.

@Robertas thanks for the advice, I will great another lens pretty soon and I will implement what you and some other people adviced.

It took google 4 days to notice that lens ( Annoying).

Never mind the niche ( I believe I can do well even with the competition).

I looked at the first page's worth. Things I noticed were misspellings, inconsistent numbering scheme, and grammatical errors. Remember, people reading your lens are hoping that you have some sort of expertise (otherwise, why would they read your stuff?). Having these types of mistakes doesn't help your case in that regard. The good news is all of it is easily fixable with just a few minutes of effort.

It's a good lens - I rated it. Great content. One thing - in Squidoo it really adds something if you put in pictures here and there. There's a lot of text and it's better visually if there are pictures.

    For the RSS feed:

    1. Click on "Add Modules"
    2. You'll get to a screen - look for "Rss: Add Your Own Feed" and click on Add. Currently it's on the page that opens up, in the tab that says "starter package"
    3. At the bottom of the screen it will say "You've added" and it should show the Rss feed module. If it does, click "save"
    4. In the module area it should be on the bottom. Click "Edit" when you see the RSS feed module.
    5. Add the information where it says. For the feed - add the URL for the feed. If you're running a wordpress blog on your own domain the feed will be http://blogurl.com/feed if it's blogger the feed will be http://blogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Chime in if you have more questions!

Just use the <a href="http://affiliate link url">KEYWORD</a> code to put the affiliate link. For traffic:

        1. Stumble it
        2. Ping it each time you update using Ping-o-Matic!
        3. Announce that you updated it to your twitter friends
        4. Article marketing
        5. Join squidoo groups
        6. Comment on other lenses with a similar topic - something meaningful. People will click your profile if they like your comment
        7. Make sure you have at least ten tags added

Also, update it and publish it every day. You can just change a sentence here and there, add a tag - it doesn't have to be dramatic changes. That way you can ping it more often.

There are tips that pop up for getting traffic on your lens after you hit publish, too.

I am a total new newbie who knows nothing about Twitter, I will be glad if you can provide a link that can help.

I don't understand what you mean by article marketing. Do you mean I should invite the url of the lens to my EZA's resource box ?

Sign up for an account at Twitter: What are you doing?

You can add me as a friend to start. A lot of people on the forum have their twitter URL's in their signatures.

Then, it's a combination social place, place to share links around the net you find and like, and also a great way to announce new blog posts and lenses. It's a quick way to interact with people.

The other day I was confused about how to make a header in photoshop and a nice twitter friend helped me through it.

I keep running twitter all day usually. I announce "good morning" - I respond to people's questions, comment on links I liked, and also announce "Lens Update: Learn how to lose weight" and paste the link.

Exactly - just put the URL to your lens in your EZA resource box. Write a few articles about weight loss (research the keywords and put them in the title of the articles) and say something like "Want more info about weight loss? Check out this link" and put your URL. You can also use goarticles.com, ideamarketers.com or any other article directory you know of.

Re adding RSS feeds to Squidoo lenses - something I learned very recently is that Google can't index the stuff in the regular RSS module because it's javascript.

A better way is to use the Google Blog Search module (Go into Add Modules, Search A-Z, under G). It's a bit awkward to get exactly the right blog posts to appear because you can't just enter the feed URL, you have to enter search terms that will bring up the right posts, but if you can get it working it's better from an SEO point of view.
