My newbie story so far
But eventually I started thinking. These places must be making at least 5x back what they are paying me, and probably more in some cases. So I started researching and through some dumb luck stumbled upon Digital Point which then led me here to Warrior Forum.
To say that reading the posts on these sites was a wake up call is an understatement. Luckily I have a pretty good BS detector so I was able to cut through most of the clutter and false promises. What I learned was that you can make money selling stuff on the internet but you have to WORK at it. The harder you work, the more mistakes you learn from, the better you will get and the more money you will make.
That is the kind of path I was looking for. Being a salaried employee is nice, I get the same paycheck if I only work 30 hours next week, but unfortunately I get the same paycheck if I work 60. I want a job where if I slack off I get punished and if I get work crazy then I am rewarded, so IM seemed like a good fit.
So like a lot of newbies I started reading, and reading, and reading. Reading but never doing anything. Then someone on here posted that you will never get rich without taking action so I closed out that browser tab and started working on my first web site.
So that's been my past 2 weeks. Writing content for my website, writing articles for EZA that point back to my website, using my writer status on other sites to get backlinks, writing product reviews, etc.
It's been fun, it's been interesting, I made my first sale (.80 cents in my pocket from amazon commission). Right now I feel pretty good. My goal is to get my first site paying for itself, then to get it profitable, then to start working on my next site, and the next one, and the next one after that.
I have learned a lot from just reading this forum, learned about SEO, traffic, etc. However the most valuable posts are certainly the ones that say "you've read enough, now start doing."
Slowly everything is making sense and I am understanding more and more of what works and what doesn't. It's been great fun so far and I think that I can make it pretty well in this business if I keep at it. My goals are not to get super rich. My first monetary goal is simply to make enough off IM to make a single car payment ($285). I figure if I can make it there then the sky is the limit after that.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and share a bit.
