Disability...a fresh start?

I just was informed that I need to go on disability for 3 months in order to stop a chronic pain problem while there is still hope. If I don't do this I potentially end up on pain killers for the better part of my life.

I am nervous for the fact that I have no idea if my work will pay anything for this period or even keep me on.

I have been working on two continuity programs and am starting to learn PPC.

I have zero money in the bank and I hate my job.

What would you guys do? Should I be nervous as hell? Is this a sign I need to take the time to kick things in full tilt?

Are you able to keep working on IM while you are in disability?
It so, why don't you just take advantage of the situation and try to seriously work on IM to see if you can make of it your new job?

Ya this might be your shot at creating a steady income online. never put a price on your health even if it means losing your job. You can always get a new job, you can replace a body.
Your still going to have to work, probably harder than you've worked before, but at least you can do it in front of a computer screen
      Hope you figure things out.

Yes, I will be able to work on IM. There will be days I'm non-functional but not all days.

NKelly, this is very true. The body can't be replaced. I have decided I am going to do this regardless of problems I face.

The hard work I am not afraid of. I enjoy this stuff so it doesn't feel the same as going into the office doing other work.

If you had three months of your time to invest...how would you spend it?

I would spend it focused on one strategy, and work the heck out of it.

When you're doing this full-time, it's really easy to get sidetracked with new techniques, forums, Twitter, YouTube and any other shiny object that catches your attention. After all, you've got all day, so what's a few minutes here and there, right?

Put your blinders on and focus on the work. Do the "fun" stuff after hours, just like you would if you were working at a "real" job all day.

Sorry to hear of your bad back. Mine kicks up every once in a while.

Just remember that sitting for long hours in front of your computer is not good for your back, arms, or eyes either. Get up at least every 2 hours and move around for a bit.

First have a business plan. Don't just throw some stuff together.

If it were me, I would do keyword research carefully. Then I would pick one theme and find a niche to work on. Build that one site or buy a site. Then get lots of backlinks to it.

Rinse and repeat, building more sites in the niches under that one theme.

Example: Dogs is the theme, sites would be about dog training, dog health, golden retrievers, etc.

Because it is all themed, it will be worth more if you ever decide to sell your sites.

Thanks, but it's neuropathic pain and not in my back.

I already am half way through development of two products (not targeted to IMers) so I guess it will be a matter of focus on finishing and pushing these.

I've been in your situation and before I knew it, thought I had a great opportunity to get something new off the ground before my disability income ran out. Then before I knew it, the months were over, the disability ended, and I had just been spinning in circles and changing my mind about which program, method, etc to stick with. So everyone who says to pick something and stay with it is totally right. It's a great opportunity but not a lot of time. It's definitely possible but takes dedication and focus. Best wishes in your business and in healing.

Hang in there and think positive thoughts ... I just found out the same thing. I have Chiari and still do full time IM, RN school, 3 kids and wife, etc... Take care of yourself and stay focused.

I would start doing internet marketing. That's what people should be doing anyway. The smart people are already doing it, while the normal people are complaining about how they don't make a lot of money and how they hate their jobs.

I got into internet marketing because I saw the money. All you have to do is work once on a project, and then you don't have to do much for it again. There's no reason to work at a "real job" for money, if you can make money online.

Sorry to hear about the pain, but this could be a serious opportunity for you!

I have focused on article marketing and my main concern has always been a lack of time. You do not have that problem atm, so in your shoes i would write a million articles (well, maybe not quite that many) to promote your products.

      Good luck to you.

Just believe that everyone does have one thing or another that could be a serious hindrance. One thing you must do-REMOVE YOUR MIND FROM THE PAIN. Put that mind on the gains coming very soon from your online biz,. I bet , nervousness will thin out. Gladness will fill your heart and provide the energy to do what will turn around your finances.
Another thing you can do in the meantime, is to request for a 3month time out with your present employer. If they refuse, ask for half pay for the same period. If they refuse, maybe you can ask to be allowed to work half the normal time. Do you get where i am going? Negotiate with them. All this is just to BUY time, because you already said you hate the job. The major problem right now is that YOU CANNOT SUSTAIN YOURSELF. Bottom line is that you have made up your mind to work ONLINE, SO GET SET TO LOOK NO WHERE ELSE. But in all cases YOU MUST FOCUS NOT ON THE PAIN BUT ON THE GAIN.SEE YOU AT THE TOP.

  • This is the best thing that could ever have happened to you!

The universe is telling you to make some big changes - are you ready?

    W. Clement Stone was known as an "inverse paranoid" - he believed the world was conspiring to make sure that he got everything he wanted in life. It takes no guts or intelligence to be paranoid and think that bad things will happen. It takes courage and an intelligent mind to believe that great things are coming your way.

You can make a fortune on the internet, just go for it! Do whatever it takes to succeed and you will succeed.

By the way, for your pain, I don't know what kind it is but I'd recommend seeing alternative practitioners, not an MD. Chiropractors, ART, AMIT, nutrition I don't know what kind of pain it is but I can damn well guarantee it wasn't caused by a lack of drugs or surgery.

I'll look at this as an opportunity. If you follow some IM bloggers, you'll find that quite a few of them got their 'lucky break' after they got fired from their job. You didn't lose your job but your situation sounds like the perfect opportunity to take it full time. Take these three months to hit hard on your IM business I say.

There's no question that you'll get there and never look back again. Hardest part is keeping the faith until that happens. Good luck

Sorry to hear about what is going on. Hopefully your job will keep you on or pay you something while you are out on disability. I would definitely take this time to work on your IM business. Good luck and I hope your pain goes away soon.
