Seed comments - should I do or not

I just came across few articles that mention "seed commenting" own blogs for seo purposes. It may be valid from that sense but I am thinking is it right to do?

One thing does not look right is impersonating the comments when you are the one who is posting the comments.

I would appreciate what's warriors opinion on this.

Thanks

Seed commenting is a border between moral and seo technique.

I found out that in the long run, protecting your reputation is a better investment. Because in the internet marketing faceless business, our reputation will either make or break us.

Take a look at the following...

    Astroturfing
    Viral marketing
    Undercover marketing
    Guerrilla marketing
    Marketing buzz
    Product placement

You decide if you want to go that far...

You hear the voices telling you not to go,
They made their choices and they'll never know,
What it means to steal, to cheat, to lie,
What it's like to live and die.

If you're having to ask if something is "right" or "acceptable" in a public forum doesn't it tell you that you already know the answer?

Would you personally trust a site that has to resort to trickery? Would you wonder what other sleaze that marketer might be pulling if they're resorting to that just to get you to view their site?

Just my opinion of course and I'm sure plenty of people will disagree!

Thanks Nigel for that. Yes now I see I already knew the but why I asked?

The reason I asked the question I have this method talked by well known "reputed" marketers. Personally I have benefited a lot. But when it came to this I was disappointed. I can now see your point how far they can go if they are already taking this approach.

I've been in the same situation Mukthar; Finding someone I thought had a good reputation only to discover they had some shady tricks up their sleeve. Always disappointing but sadly less and less surprising
