Very true internet marketing is a numbers game in that the number of times you post articles, inforums,ezine article etc the more traffic you get
to your website and buisness

To be successful you have to be smarter than the other guy. Logical thinking - A + B = C - has its place, but it brings logical results. Creative thinking like writing awesome ebooks or providing seminars, live calls, etc are what draws the big money. Instead of attracting 20 prospects using competitive, more is better methodology you can attract hundreds or thousands by writing a single ebook and pushing it to the right players in your industry, along with your prospecting efforts.

In addition to meeting people and doing more, do smart, creative stuff too. This leverages your time allowing you to enjoy more of life

I agree with yves.. its not so much about just pure numbers if your articles stink! You have to produce quality articles as well.

We've had some niches where the number of articles were minimal but because they were quality, they outperformed niches where we had triple the number of articles. If quality & quantity were to have a fight, my bet is on quality all the time!

Well, there are many different way's to skin a cat.

Your accomplishments are admirable and I respect you
for going forward. Atleast, you understand the difference
between working harder and smarter, and choosing to
work harder as a choice.

I could not argue that position because, you conciously
made a decision to work more. Where as...I work harder
to work less and be smarter.

I too taught working harder was the way to go, until I
realized that I enjoy socializing, people, spending time
with family, travel, etc. Then it was like, "f**k all this
work harder mess, I'm going to work smarter!".

Perhaps you'll eventually burn yourself out and realize
you may want to take the same route, perhaps you'll
be like those who truly DO love their work so much
that working harder doesn't bother them...who know's

Good topic. However, any kind of sales = numbers game.

Internet Marketing is a business just like everything else. The customers walking in a store are equivalent of traffic in our business. Not every customer buys but they more walk in's you've got the more sales you'll make. Simple as that.

I like what you are doing here and simply scaling things now.

I agree and things like product quality, jvs, partnerships, branding, etc. Just help to improve those numbers.

I agree with Maddi. If you sell something, it's a numbers game. Once you know your conversions on the product, you can just scale it and you'll know how much you can make.

That's why numbers are so damn important.

Champion effort for getting the work done and
actually knowing your numbers. You are way ahead
of many others doing internet marketing just because
you are sticking to your guns, working your business model
as best as you can and knowing where you stand statistically.

Keep doing what you are doing, and improving your numbers.

Then once you are making enough, you can outsource
the work you are doing. Set yourself an income goal
to reach, one that will afford to put on a part time
outsourced worker.

No matter what business model you have, you can
always leverage it. Through, software, systems and people.

Ernie, one thing I would do right now, is document what
you are doing, with videos, screenshots, etc. Something
that is explained so well that you can give to your new
outsourced worker.

Once they have that, they will know exactly what you want
and what to do, and what to expect.

Most people neglect to do the foundational stuff like the OP. Most people would rather create a huge program to sell than spend the time to blog and write articles diligently over time and build a solid platform to launch from.

Longevity counts for a lot when the internet is so time sensitive and crest-of-the-wave conscious

I had spent so much time away from IM after starting with it years ago and becoming discouraged the first time around. Ever since getting back into it, I've been much more patient and have realized how important it is to be much more structured with my approach.

Organization is something I'm still trying to teach myself. It's encouraging to read these posts here. Thanks.

Just imagine if you kept this up for a year. You'll be making thousands per month before you realize it.

Your absolutely right it is all in the numbers, keep doing what you know works to get more traffic to your site each month. If all conditions are right and you serve your clients in the best possible way then the numbers count. Worth while keeping track so you know what is really viable.

i've been doing something similar, but instead of writing content, i simply write one to 2 paragraphs that summarize content written by someone else and link back to the original content. I have a table template that display 2-4 hand picked amazon.com products below each post, so they read the post and lots of clicks on the targetted ads.

for content i just subscribe to a bunch of blogs, rss feeds, and visit frequently updated sites, as well as use google alerts. i'm starting to use gtrends now too and yahoo answers to look for questions that people want answered.

but for the most part i just pick one item per day, aiming for quality, not quantity, and i hand pick a couple matching products from amazon and clickbank to place below my summary, i make sure to include tags and linked keywords. my new blog jsut sold a kindle for like $500, and i got about $44 in commission.

all i do is review content coming in to me and post about 1 item per day or every other day, traffic and clicks are increasing. i also allow my visitors to submit links to content they like, but i only post the best of the best.

for example one article was about food that are poisonous for dogs that linked to a 3 page write up on about.com

i figure why create content when you can just link to it and advertise with each post on my blog, that's kinda what google does - link to other peoples content and advertise next to the results.

gonna add a way for visitors to buy an ad spot below each post or on the sidebar, but ads are always below my summary so the site is not plastered with ads, you can focus on reading my quick summary, and go read the original content or click over to amazon to buy a book on the subject

takes like 5-10 minutes to add a post, but i only add one every day or every couple days. you can even write scheduled posts so that wordpress will post them automatcally, so i can write 2 weeks worth and schedule them, i also have a procedure written to follow, but it's really simple and qucik to review content, find matchign ads ad create a new post.

It can be, but it doesn't have to be a numbers game... Build up the quality and work on Pareto's principle focus on 20% that is responsible for 80% of the results.

I do think that it is a numbers game. However, it might be better to create more websites than write more articles for one website because there may be that gem of a website that has low enough competition to grab traffic without a numerous amount of articles.

That's one of the "axioms" of Internet Marketing -and I would say of business in general. It's also refreshing to confirm that content is king traffic generation-wise.

Absolutely true, although obviously the exception is article spinning/writing crap articles. But writing good, quality content will get you where you want to be. Good to see your increasing success with your articles. I remember having the same experience, but it took me a lot longer to get to that point when I first started out.
