Life Span of Products

Let's disucss the life span of products and why you pick them to promote. For instance you could pick a product that will be around forever and put your time into promoting it and get returns for years. Or you could pick a product that probably will only sell well during launch. Both could be good money makers. But the question is how do you determine which to promote.

After thinking about promoting products I started to think about how many products have a short term life span and are more like Fads than anything. Would you not be better of building a long term business with products that will last. For instance the Make Money niche has mostly short term products. They are Fads mainly because they get saturated and the methods stop working after awhile. Thus, I would think most IM products are the FAD type. Meanwhile products like Diet, Fitness, dating, etc... would be the long term type.

Thus you may be wise to pick a niche where you could build long term products and profit from them for years. Product Creaters could work to make the product better every year until it is one of the best in the market place. Affilites could work to improve the same sites until prefection. Also, you could build up more and more links, articles, etc... from years of marketing.

Let's discuss reasons to do both these different models of making money online.

I like the hiking / camping / backpacking niche - most of the products that I do reviews on will be around for years. So when I post an article, pictures or a video, I get a long lasting return on my time. I feel that the more experience that I have in the field, the more qualified I am to offer an opinion.

If its a fly by night product, then nobody can really build up any lasting experience with it - because its popular today, and forgotten tomorrow.

And I really do not like looking for new niches to tap into. My life is already busy enough, I do not need to add anything else to make it more complicated.

I like the idea of building up a long term business versus having to stay busy all the time to keep money flowing. So in some regards these long term niches seem to be attractive. Then again with a good list you could promote many products to these short term product niches. Just as long as there is a demand and tons of product to offer.
