Your Killer Tips For Subscribers - Blog Post Email or Not?

Hello,

I've been trying to figure out which is better.

I've created a large collection of killer tips/strategies & guides, in different formats: Text, PDF, Audio & Video

This is to establish niche authority, trust and rapport with my subscribers. The thing is, I'm running a blog and I don't know which is better:

1- To send these as individual "items or files" via email to subscribers (private pages for subscribers), or to...

2- Make them blog posts and have the email redirect subscribers to that post.

The problem with the later (blog posts) is that subscribers won't find it cool if they found the post's date is old... ie. not a fresh new post....

On the other hand, I can't resist the temptation of including these as blog posts also... to get indexed and attract more readers and subscribers.

Any suggestions?

Now here comes the hard part - making a decision.

If I were you, I will try the 2nd option first and see the results.
There are so many advantages you could get with the 2nd one.

Your blog will stay fresh (and this is good for SEO), people will
post their comments (this is also good for SEO) and they will be
    there permanently.

Meaning, you could get more benefits from future visitors.

Yeah, I know... benefits of traffic and comments (seo & social proof). The comments part can be taken care of if I go with option one... can create a special page for them with the ability to comment... but since it ain't a normal blog post, I'll lack in future traffic and sharing some of this content with first time blog visitors.

Option two makes more sense, but is mostly done when the post is fresh new and sent once to your subscribers.... you can't (or it won't make sense) to schedule the same post in your followups.

Each of this content is meant to be read or watched by every new subscriber, in a special sequence, to build credibility, trust and rapport...etc.

However, picture this: a new visitor comes to your blog.. lingers around... reads some posts... then subscribes. After a day or two he gets an email informing him of a blog post he ALREADY read. Not so cool.

If you're concerned about visitors seeing that your old posts are old, simply remove the date from WP. It's really simple to do, and works great if you don't blog that often.

Thought about that. Can you remove date of comment too?... I'm using WP and think it can be done.

I think I found a winner! Thanks man.

Ooops.. forgot about the chance new subscribers might have read the post already.
      Back to square 1.

    You're welcome
    It can also be done for comments. Open up "comments.php" , find <?php comment_date('F j, Y') ?>, and remove it. (Along with <?php comment_time() ?> I think)

I'm not awesome at writing code, but with some trial and error, you'll get there quite fast

P.S. I learned this tip from a video of Tim Ferriss at a seminar about blogging. (He is the author of "The 4-hour workweek")

Ok, but still, the issue of them having read some posts before subscribing... and then getting emails pointing them to one or two of these same posts, still exits.

Is anyone else doing something similar?

Drip feed the content to your blog, and email your list when you want people to comment.

If you want to become an authority in the niche then you need to have the content to back up your claims of authority. How can you be an expert when your blog only a handfull of posts?

If your blog is set up properly you will get people onto your RSS / email opt-in box in the sidebar and the relationship will start to be built.

Assuming you have competition in your niche why not do some swapping of this content where you do a guest post on someone else's blog and get the chance to put your resource box on the front of their site.
