If you could go back in time and give yourself one

If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice to get you back to your current (or better) level in Internet Marketing/Offline Marketing, what would you say?

(I'm thinking this would be useful to many others who are just starting out and getting bombarded with conflicting messages/ideas as to how to get results fast)

If I could give myself one piece of advice, I'd say:

Don't over analyze and study every single piece of information BEFORE taking action. As you discover a strategy or idea...start implementing it immediately and adjust your future actions based on the results of that first implementation. Better to fail fast than waste time studying theory on something will eventually fail fast.

What advice would you give yourself?

My one piece of advice would be to focus on one project at a time.

Build a list and market to the same person multiple times. By taking into consideration the lifetime value of the customer your marketing budget will let you outperform all of your competitors.

Get a Mentor, Unsubscribe from all the lists that keep pitching to me and then lock myself into taking action to whatever that mentor guides me.

Its a different kind of mindset when you are following just One person and not the herd.

Stick to list building, product creation and driving traffic, and totally ignore everything else.

Take action NOW! Don't be afraid to just jump right in and learn as you go (hands on)
Stay focused & don't chase every idea that comes into your head. File it away for a later date.

I would have to agree w/what you said Dexx...The whole "don't over-analyze things, pick one thing, stick w/it until you see some success and then and only then, try to diversify by incorporating other ideas/strategies!"

      Great topic by the way!

Making money online is simple. It requires hard work, but the process is fairly simple. Stop trying to make it complicated!

As weird as this may sound it would be "keep your credit card in your wallet".

I spent way too much money on products and courses trying to take my education to the next level it was insane.

Once I found this forum in 2007 that changed and now the things I buy are a lot more focused, e.g. things I can actually put to use because I have a need as opposed to a want.

Back up. The smell of eighteen months worth of work sizzling away on your hard drive is never going to be fragrant or pretty, no matter how proficient you are at any particular skill.

    Oh, and back up. Definitely.

Keep my wallet and ask all the questions from at least two sources before I take immediate action for every aspect of IM.

Spend more time doing IM and less time learning. Spend less time in forums.

Work on long term campaigns that you can tweak overtime and build a large customer list and huge funnel. Then do JVs.

Definitely less time on forums for sure!

The forums are great for getting initial ideas/strategies...but then they are distracting as you are constantly then trying new ideas and strategies instead of seeing existing ones to completion!
