Sheesh people - If you have a problem with a link, DON'T include it in your quote

I see this all the time. Warrior A posts an affiliate link (or some other non-kosher link).

Warrior B quotes the original post and says, "You're not supposed to post affiliate links."

Warrior A edits the post, removing the offending link. Or a mod deletes the post.

BUT... the link is still active, destined to live forever in Warrior B's quote. And often in several more posts, if people quote Warrior B in their replies.

If you don't want to see affiliate links in here, don't include 'em when you quote the original poster. If you must reference the link, make it non-active and camouflage it with x's or something.

    LOL

I actually laughed after reading this.

Also, that tells us how thinking a little bit helps

I don't mind the links too much. However, what gets me is when someone breaks Rule #1 (naming names), and the Warrior who tells them not to do it quotes the original post with the name intact. The OP edits the name out of his/her post. But the person who replied with a quote never comes back to edit the name out of the quote.

    Cheers,

Yeah, that too, Becky. Since I came across an instance of the affiliate link thing this morning, I wasn't thinking about naming names, but that's a biggie.

So, to amend my original: If you're gonna complain about anything a poster did, don't immortalize the offense by including it in your quote.
