Book Rich Dad Poor Dad And Internet Marketing?

I just re-read Rich Dad Poor Dad book by Robert Kiyosaki from cover to cover and wanted to touch base on one of the main focal points of the book and how it relates to Internet marketing and making money online.

Robert Kiyosaki says the rich let their time and money work for them not against them in my words. Example a typical 9 to 5 you work once you get paid once. Pretty cut and dry right?

Stepping in the sleeping giant Internet marketing, and running your own home based business. While a typical 9 to 5 job pays you once for your single efforts, an Internet business can pay you over and over again creating a great residual income for you and your family. Lets use article marketing as an example you write a hit article once it can be paying you money for years and years to come. Its like having a virtual ATM at your computer.

This is the way the rich think and this is the way everyone on the Warriorforum is thinking so you guys are already one step ahead of the game. Think rich to be rich. Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great read, with some lessons we as Internet marketers, and Entrepreneurs, can use in our online businesses.

Your thoughts?

I agree wholeheartedly. Passive income is passive income - no matter the source. But as Kiyosaki teaches in his next books - don't forget to diversify within different markets altogether. People spend years learning techniques to acquire real estate that then pays them a small cashflow - which is something just as easily accomplished with internet marketing, however don't keep all of your eggs in one basket - use proceeds from your strength to purchase and learn areas within your weaknesses in case your method should fail in the long term. Google just has to change a few small things to make your rankings falter. Same with the housing bubble. And if everything falls all at the same time, the world would end anyway and money would be the least of your worries .

    Hi Jay,

I agree with what you are saying. I saw a couple of Kiyosaki's video clips and I believe in this success attitude. I have been reluctant to begin article marketing because it seems quite time consuming, but the more I hear about it, the closer I get to taking it on. I appreciate your encouragement and putting it all in line with this making money continually. When I look at it this way, it doesn't seem like too much work at all.

      Hi,

Kiyosaki rocks, I don't care what the detractors have to say.

Step 1 - get off PAYE (pay as you earn) tax regime (in other words go self-employed)

Step 2 - as mentioned above - get incremental income, not linear

Step 3 - re-invest, and find ways to get money working for you (outsource)

      Step 4 -

Break the mould - buy 'rich dad, poor dad' for your kids to read

    Roger,

    Couldn't have said it better!

    The ways need changing.

I was sat at a friends BBQ the other day chatting about money and careers and I was explaining that I was thinking of travelling the world for a bit with my other half.

His dad at this point jumped in and explained it was a CRAZY idea. You need to get a mortgage, you need a stable job, yada yada. It just goes to show how mindest in money, careers and life is moulded. It made me think about this book because it couldn't have been closer to "POOR DADS" thinking!

He doesn't know what I do for a living. But, I was the only person there that thought differently. When I argued the point of "RICH DAD" people looked at me like I was CRAZY! In my opinion a J.O.B is a dangerous place to be right now, regardless of who you work for.

Two friends of mine have lost jobs in the past 10 days, and they are panicking! This proves my belief, that the best thing you can be doing right now is making YOUR OWN money!

      Hi GoGetta,

Have you travelled before? Warning - don't go to Perth in Australia. It will break your heart if you have to leave

Yes, the world is full of 'poor dads' and many other types who will try and stifle your enthusiasm with the same old boring monlogue - they're just jealous because they're caught in the trap and can't escape. See it for what it is (evil negativity), don't waste time arguing with them, just do it to prove them wrong.

This is one of the best articles I have ever read on this subject (I bought the book 'vagabonding' a week ago because of this article) -

      YOU MUST ALL READ THIS!

      Snippet -

This notion — that material investment is somehow more important to life than personal investment — is exactly what leads so many of us to believe we could never afford to go vagabonding.
My brief, (13 weeks) lone, excursion right around the world opened my eyes, changed my perception and made me a much better person. I haven't been able to travel since (parental commitment) but I did make major beneficial life changes due to my experience - I moved 200 miles away from my home city (3 & 1/2 years ago) on my own and started a new life in a great place where I had no contacts/friends or any reason to feel confident that I could build a new life - except for my own determination to do so and to find new challenges. I also recommend that approach to anyone stuck in a rut.

I was the only person there that thought differently. When I argued the point of "RICH DAD" people looked at me like I was CRAZY!
Another reason to spread your wings and find new, like-minded soulmates.

        Hey Jay and others,

I have Robert Kiyosake to thank for getting me out of the 9-5 humdrum 3 years ago. I had a very Rich Dad, Poor Dad upbringing, which resulted in the you know what story!

Unfortunately though, I chose to became a self employed financial person just before the financial world melted down in the US 1st and then the UK. That I must say has been tough.

However, as one door closes another window opens and that window was IM. I am 6 months in and loving it. I have 2 blog sites, have written a book and will be launching a parenting membership site hopefully in July/August. A second will follow at year end in IM.

The opportunity is there for all, you just have to roll up your sleeves and got for it!

        best regards

        Joe

    Roger,

Yes, I have done a little travelling, not on the scale I want though and now I run businesses in the UK, a lot of delegation needs doing first!

But, I have never been to Perth, been to Brisbane for a bit though. Will check Perth out though, as I plan to go to AU. I will also check that link out now!

    Thanks

Their mind-set is simply a "9-5" mind-set if you know what I mean where time is the smallest issue)

Some of them even forget for weeks that they had to finish a certain task and only come up with excuses that are worthless to me to be honest. It's business we're all struggling to evolve somehow.

I don't necessarily agree with that. Everyone is in business for themselves anyways. People can do the same job for their company as a 1099 contractor as they do as a W-2 employee. People basically ask for a W-2 and in exchange they have to report to work at 8am, have to pay for things after-tax, and have the gov't withhold money ahead of when it's due.

Some people are more apt to be able to start/grow businesses, but anyone can be in business.

    Roger, and others!

I just truly believe in the power of Internet marketing, and residual income.

Have your time, and money work for you not the other way around. Robert Kiyosaki sums it up when he makes this statement.

The Internet is the best place to earn a residual income, and break out of the 9 to 5 rat race. Get your system set up once though it does take hard work for a while, it will pay you over and over again.

Nothing like waking up in the morning while you sleep with hundreds of dollars in affiliate income in your account. Sure beats cartoons lol.

And where else do you have the World as your playground from your home office? Sounds like a pretty good business model to me. Would anyone care to disagree that Internet marketing is perhaps the best business model around for producing residual income?

I agree totally, read it as well several times just becouse it isnt enough reading it just once, if you arent rich you need to understand how rich people think (not talking about movie stars och pro sportsmen) and then try to adapt yourself to that way of thinking on a daily basis.

so yea, anyone can be in business.

As always, easier said than done. It's why a lot of people get rich by telling other people that they can get rich, despite not having a clue how to actually get rich.:p The bottom line is, no matter how positively you think or how much you believe you can get rich, it comes down to the customers.
There was a thread on here once where somebody said his sites were declining and business was bad and asking whether it was the recession, etc.
Some other fellow comes on and tells him "You have to embrace the power of positive thinking and put all the negative thinking out of your life and then you will see change for the better."
 Ok, so how will thinking positively force my customers to buy from me? Been watching The Secret one too many times I think. LOL!
Anyway, I've read my fair share of Get Rich books. It's mainly theory. Just start thinking rich and good things will happen........hopefully........maybe...

Life is all about balance. It really is simple to fall into middle class poverty which is a mortgage / kids / living from payday to payday and wondering why you have a crap vauxhall zafira rather than an audi Q7!

But then I'm lucky as being a scientist you can't really go self employed, I certainly wouldn't want the overheads associated with my job. I don't have to travel miles to work somewhere I hate and I do have some other income streams from IM should the job market collapse.

If I'd read Rich Dad Poor Dad I may well have taken on Dad's farm, but then I would have missed out on all of the university experience, and never end up moving to somewhere that allowed me to meet a women who would become my wife and have 2 great kids with.

Getting back to the book I would use IM to build up your asset column, and this is what I will be teaching my kids. eg give them a personal blog but explain that if they put adverts in the sidebars they can earn commission / adsense revenue for their content.

When at school so the subjects you enjoy rather than those that will lead to a 9-5 job in an office with people and a boss you probably won't like. The world does need lawyers / accountants, and they are paid well, but would you really count them as friends / people to aspire to?

People on this thread might like to read the book "4 hour work week", which is all about outsourcing yourself, taking time off to go travelling while still keeping your job, etc.

I agree the "rich dad poor dad" books are great!

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great book, especially
for Internet Marketers. I read it several years
back and have been reading other books
by Robert Kiyosaki ever since. To say I have
learned a lot all these years is a big
understatement. I highly recommend this and
other books by Kiyosaki to all IMers.

About the concept, it really holds true - why
spend YEARS in college to learn how to be a
paid slave for all your life when you can spend
the same time (or even less) to learn how to
be a boss and create never-ending passive
stream of income for the rest of your life?!

That's what Internet Marketing can do! Heck,
I still receive $000+ monthly commissions for
products I promoted in 2006, even those that
    I have completely forgotten!!!

Damn, few years back when i read this book... It made my life like a hell no one will like to live.

    ..
    .

    ..
    .
    .
    .

    ..
    .
    .
    .
    .
Yeah I started to skip classes and made my family so much angry with me...
and it was very hard to convince them with the ideas Robert has convinced me...

Yeah best book ever... but make sure your bright kid in school just do not read it
before finishing their school... Man it seems so hard to think 9-5 in the classroom
after reading this book (it is impossible to live with the theories and lectures your
teacher will like to embrace being the student of Robert.....)

More power to these great guys who have courage to say, and teach what seems
against the whole teachings of the whole 9-5 mentality world.
