Is "Download" A Buying Keyword? "Free

Hi All,

I set up a domain with the word "free" in the URL. It was SEO-ed for the word free in title, description and keywords, and used variations around that keyword. The site had lots of free stuff, but also ads to a related clickbank product. Hasn't worked.

Both Micro Niche Finder and the Microsoft Adlabs said there was a commercial intention with the keyword, which I found suprising. With 5000 searches globally a month and little competition, I thought I picked a winner. Wrong

Yes, they don't like the word 'Free'. That's why email marketing works best if you disguise the word Free somehow in email titles and content, otherwise they go straight into the Spam folder.

If you aren't getting the conversions you want with the traffic you are getting....try to think of another way to monetize it.

      - Throw up a gateway and make them fill out an offer to get something free

      - Add some adsense blocks

      - If it is a "tight niche" throw up a squeeze page

For the love of god though, don't spend weeks, and months doing the same thing without making adjustments.
