2000+ Unique Visitors yet NO Sales - What the...!!

I have a site for fairly high end decoration products.

Last month I made 8 sales for $580 in commissions. Yet that's not that impressive considering I had more than 6000+ visitors in that month.

Now on the 11th, I've had even more visitors per day yet only one measly sales all month.

Is it possible somebody is hacking my commissions?

My site can not be THAT bad...

    how are you verifying visitors? On some of my sites I get several thousand hits a month from bots. Sometimes it looks like your getting a lot more traffic than you really are.

    People keep talking about traffic being the key to making money but it's only true if that traffic is the right traffic.

    Your numbers are irrelevant.

    What matters is - which ones are turning into buyers and how to get more of them - who cares about traffic that doesn't make you money?

    Your traffic seems pretty untargeted.

    How to improve your conversions? Build an email list. You are selling high
    end products. Why not educate them why they should choose your products
    over cheaper products ..

    If you think you should have more commissions waiting, try to work with another
    similar company and compare the results.

    Are using an ad tracker. Ad tracker helps you to know if your traffic are really unique.

    If you have this thing in place, you need to take a look at the product you are promoting as well as your landing page. If your landing page sucks you conversion rate will suffer.

    Another thing to note is, over 80% of your visitors are not going to buy from you no matter how hard you try. Enterprising marketers use opt in link to capture their visitors contact and follow up with them automatically.

    My bounce rate is at 48% - pretty good I think.

    All the traffic is organic, almost all of it from Google. As it's for products, I'd guess it is targeted except for say 20-30% that want pictures or just info. All in all it should be decent.

    My main URL gets about 50% of the total traffic - the rest seems very targeted as it's spread between the 2000 products! 1 sale out of 1500 visitors is bad anyway I turn it.

    All these stats come for Google Analytics.

      I think you're being too hard on yourself.

      If you have 2000 products and 1500 visitors - if those people all went and looked at a different product you'd be very lucky if someone bought. It usually takes around 100 well targeted visitors to a page to make a sale, so I think it's just that you have so much and your visitors are spread thin.

      I haven't looked at your site though so maybe you're right and your conversion sucks but maybe you just need more traffic.

        It could be that.

        The products are in 12 pretty specific categories.

        Even then there's a lot of choices, but that's a bit of the thing with these kind of products. The number of products actually are half the reason I get the traffic.

        As some visitors are coming with a VERY specific keyword - very long tailed ones - they should get what they're looking for, at least SOME of the time.

        I admit my main page could be improved (half the traffic), but the specific product ones should do the job.

      Somewhere in there 6000+ a month became 60,000 a month. But getting back to your problem. 6000+ a month is not a lot of traffic. People aim to get this amount of traffic a day especially if it's targeted/ Your conversions could be better. Commission theft is a bit of a problem these days but even woth that your conversions could still be improved. Commission theft would account for the loss of two or three sales a month unless you are very unlucky. A conversion of 16 out of 6000 + assuming you lost 8 sales to commission theft could still be improved on.

        Mmm. You're probably right. I still hate the super low conversion. Maybe it comes with the "spread between tons of products" territory.

    Without knowing more about keywords, site setup etc, we really would be lost to help you.

    Buying keywords, info seeking or not.. all these things come into play.

    Your return does seem bad, but I'd say look into the type of traffic you are getting before you jump to any conclusions.

    I would dig a bit deeper into analytics. Where are the actual buyers from? How long were they on the site for?

    Other thing I would do is see if the keywords that are organic hits are actually money keywords. Check out the adwords value for those keywords in market samurai or google adwords and see if what you are making is matching those figures. If not, you mind as well be making better money with PPC as those companies are paying that to be high on google.
