Create a Sales Page in Wordpress - Why?

What is the advantage of creating a sales page in Wordpress as opposed to creating it in straight HTML? It's easier to code it or grab the code from an existing sales page and modify it for your own purposes.

I am new to the marketing side so. . . am I missing something?

That's what I was thinking. WP is great but some tasks seem like a Rube Goldberg workaround.

A single HTML page to sell a product really is the simplest method. BUT...
        1. If you have a sales page template included in your theme (or can write one), you can install Wordpress in your root domain and have a sales page and blog in one step.

The sales page template allows you to have a home page that looks like a single HTML page, plus a blog (using the posts function) for writing fresh content and SEO.

        2. You can achieve pretty much the same results in two steps just by using the HTML page on your domain, then installing wordpress in a subfolder.

For example: 'www.ProductSalesPage.com' for the sales page, and 'www.ProductSalesPage.com/blog/', where Wordpress is installed in the 'blog' subfolder.

Some people (like me) prefer the one step method and just like to play with Wordpress.

Wordpress is out of the box content management system that you can easily customize. There are tons of plugins and themes based on your niche. Easy rss feeds, seo urls are another plus point.

Generally speaking WP is not great for sales page but I have used Squeezetheme in the past which allows you to create, funnily enough a squeeze page, opt in box style easlity or a full blown sales page as the home page while still having a blog installed at root. Saves mucking around with straight html and WP install on another folder

I love creating salespages in Wordpress. Specifically because of 2 things...

I can perform updates "fast"! I mean reaaaal fast. Just like using Word.

I can see past revisions in case I need some old code...or in case my older copy converted better.

If its really just 1 page then HTML is easier but even a 5 page site get tough to manage without includes. So WordPress just acts like a CMS.
