Apple Mac percentage?

Hey warriors,

Just curious what the guesstimated percentage is of marketers out there that have a mac (preferably a 2008 or newer model)?

I know it's a weird question to ask...but I'm thinking of creating a product that would only be useful to mac owners (as the mac software is required).

Thanks guys!

The % should be really low so I agree with garyk1968, better try to make your software cross platform compatible.

I guess the question is how difficult would it be to go cross platform,

    BTW

Something which surprised me the other day was when I was reading about something I was about to down load. Usually you will see a set of instructions then towards the end it will say in parenthesis... (Mac users will need to.....) But this had Mac user instructions first then said (P.C. users will need to..)

It's the first time I have ever seen this.... Apple are taking over!

Yup I agree with Gary, making it on adobe air would allow you to reach a wider target audience! PS Macs Rule :-p

One stat I saw recently is that Mac ownership in the US is around 12%

I am a Mac and PC user and I use my PC for most of my IM business. The reason for that is most of the software made for IMer's is for the PC. So for the IM community I would say around 6% (total guess on my part).

I use my Mac for design and video.

If you are creating a product only for the Mac in the IM community, you may find it an empty well. Not trying to be discouraging (I would love to see more IM related products for the Mac), but not sure the market is there.

Interesting you know I just realized that I have a great example, I created a cross platform software package for both mac and windows and here are the results.

I never really promoted it, but I think the percentages are a good indication of what you can expect.
