How to get people to join Internet Marketing

I am part of a community where hundreds of people are on a website at a time its a gaming website and all the people are probably in there 20 + range and i would say about 500 of these people spend an hour or more of there day on this website.

So i was wondering if i make a post in the forums about internet marketing what can i say to people who have never Internet Marketed ( yes i just made that into a verb) be interested and hopefully make some money off of them?

How can i make internet marketing sound like its fun and maybe sell some ebooks to them or something.

If someone here has a ebook for newbies about internet marketing and would maybe want to try to split any profits 50 50 i could do that just give me some ideas how to get them interested.

agreed, if people want to talk about making money, they would be at an internet marketing forum... just like the reason why they are at a gaming website, it's because they want to talk about gaming.

It's pretty hard to sway a community into something they are not there to discuss, that is of course, unless you are a powerful 'Authority Figure' within the community, like the site owner.

    Hope that helps...

I agree, you wouldn't make many friends with the moderators if you started posting about IM in a gaming forum.

What you could do is set up a personal blog and have a curiosity based signature if they allow signatures. Just make sure you talk about gaming on your blog and it isn't just about IM. You could then just blog about what you are doing and how nice it is to get extra money with IM. Soft sell with a few well placed aff links to great products , push any freebie the merchant is giving away. Might even offer a freebie and get your mailing list going.

If you post and are active in the gaming forum, quite a few people will take a look at your link.

The problem is you're breaking the first rule of marketing, which is to find a hungry crowd. These guys are interested in gaming--not Internet Marketing.

I know it's hard to believe, but there are a lot of people out there that aren't even the slightest bit interested in making money (I still struggle with this reality on a daily basis). When you go fishing, you've got to use the right bait. You may like chocolate cake...but the fish don't.

You've got a hungry gaming crowd...sell them something in that market.

your best bet is to build friends and begin to network, dont mention anything about internet marketing unless they ask you what you do for a living.

chat with friends about the game and try to get them to ask you what you do for a living.

when they ask you what it is that you do , say here let me show you then send them a link to your site.

You are looking at this opportunity in the wrong way. You want to take the members of that site into a new market. That is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to achieve.

What you should be doing is looking at how you can make money off of those people in that market. What do they want and how can you give it to them. That is what you should be asking. Not how to take them to a completely different market.

There is a ton of money to be made in the gaming niche. I'm sure there are tons of affiliate programs as well.

Unfortunately, Internet marketers often get shortsighted and only look at Internet marketing. That is a mistake I made and would suggest not doing it.

Keep your eyes open and always be looking for opportunities. It sounds like this is a place where you hang out and people trust you. If that is the case you could easily monetize what you are doing and stay within that niche.

Keep your head up and keep your eyes open. You can do it you just need to look in a different direction.

Why not just sell something people want instead of trying to make people want something they don't?

Go to clickbank, paydotcom or CJ and find some great gaming products to affiliate with!

There is a huge WOW crowd and lots of WOW guides or there is a PSP or Xbox site that accepts affiliates and Im sure whatever the gaming that youre into will have something appropriate to target THAT market!

Im with the above - if off topic -OK but otherwise its spam!
Youve already got the market - now give them what they are looking for!

    Good Luck - Kym
