One of my sites have been hacked.

The cpanel login details have been changed and the Joomla admin details have been changed. So I can't access anything.

Anyone know what I should do. I really haven't a clue what to do.

The first thing to do is not panic.

Contact the host, on the phone if possible and see if they can sort it out for you. You'll then need to add some security somehow... and back everything up when possible

    Adam,
    To start ...

    1. Contact your host, have them access and change details and contact you back with info.

    2. Hire a proper security guy (maybe send me a PM) to secure your joomla install.

    3. Be very aware that free open source code scripts like wordpress, joomla, drupal, and other are being hit by hackers due to the popularity in them.

    4. Let me know if you need me

What version of Joomla were you running? Pre 1.5?

I'd blame that on Joomla, crap script any way, totally un-seo friendly.

I would agree .. Some seem to think its the version that matters but it really is not the version. It's the software itself that is well known and all hackers have access to the source code..

The only thing to do is contact your host support, and have them handle it.

        Since you mentioned your cpanel....

If your site is very popular, it is shockingly easy for a hacker to set up "sniffer" software, which will the record data to and from your site.

If logging into your cpanel using "HTTP" instead of "HTTPS", it will only be a matter of time B4 your cpanel is exploited. This applies to ftp as well, as one should always use "SFTP" protocol to log in.

Don't get me wrong, several other weaknesses, and holes in the script will also allow this.

But it never ceases to amaze me how people will pay good money for security upgrades, and never think about user weaknesses in their site.

        Good Luck!
