At the risk of sounding rather Pollyanna-ish, is it really all about the money? It seems that the majority of people are looking for ways to make themselves rich. Have we become so mercenary that we don't even think about the quality of the product? What about the customer?

I know I'm in a minority here but it just seems to me that customer service and pride of product have been thrown out the window. I KNOW people need to make money to survive but what happened to a quality product at a fair price?

Okay, this old dinosaur is heading back to the tar pits!

I don't believe it is "all about the money." I think some principles are more valuable than money.

    That, of course, is JMHO.

Chris, that is the reason why I haven't created more products than I have.

Think about it. I've been marketing for over 5 years and I've created 16
products. That's a little over 3 products per year.

    That is NOTHING.

    Why?

Because I won't put something together unless I know beyond any doubt
that it's going to help the people who get it.

So can I join you in your tar pit?

You're right Chris - Money is a big focus for most people but for different reasons. There is a lot of crap sold in the name of making a dollar in the IM niche.

I'll walk to the tar pit with you.

It is a sad thing but great for the smart folks like Chris. You can easily build a great business by putting out quality products and building a name for yourself. You really would be surprised at how easy it is because of all the garbage out there.

That is also a key secret to getting JVs. Keep putting out quality products that people want and people will come looking for you. I say this from experience.

If I remember the movie which spawned that catch phrase correctly, once Cuba Gooding's character showed the team the goods, they showed him the money...

There's nothing wrong with making money... but you're absolutely right that some folks will throw out crappy products and provide poor customer service in the pursuit of a quick buck. Fortunately, lots of people who do this come off as desperate and thus never get off the ground.

Sometimes I tell people to stop crunching numbers and figuring out how to get rich. Instead of setting a goal for $X, I tell people to set a goal to SERVE X number of people. If you do that, two things can happen:

    1. Because your focus is on serving others, you put out better products, better customer service, etc. In other words, your entire business is better because you have the right focus. You focus on your customers... rather than yourself.

    2. You can become crazy-rich to boot.

    Cheers,
    Becky

First off, Becky, what the heck does "ETA" mean? Stop using those big words on me!

Secondly, if you were to spend any time with me in the tar pits, I think you would find that you had become stuck on me... ha ha ha ha ha ha ah! I just kill myself sometimes!

I agree with you 100 percent. I run a really great hypnosis blog that many consider to be top of the line. I get about 100 hits a day and have had it for over a year. Yet I have never made a sale. People tell me to throw any type of click bank product, but I can't just recommend anything. I have to recommend only stuff I have personally viewed and stuff I can see would provide value for my readers. Most people agree the reason I haven't sold nothing is my ad copy, but I have yet to figure out how to write a quality review and sell the product at the same time. Maybe its because im very new to this field.

Either way I agree that some people just sell anything, but in my eyes credibility and content are more important than just selling anything.

I think it is about the money but and it's a big but a lot people won't reach their money target because they produce crap which means people don't buy the higher priced backend stuff. There seems a lot of short sightedness (is that a word...oh well is now!!) in this industry.

So Chris, rhetorical question, what about high quality animal pr0n products? They're high quality, but they are, what they are... Are they not crap?

Edit: Bad example, probably illegal. Assume something legal, but disgusting perhaps.
