Internet Marketing Seminars

Hi Warriors,
I didn't know whether to post this or not, but i thought what the heck.

I am looking for advice from the more experienced marketers here. I am attending my first seminar next weekend, i must admit i am a little nervous. I was wondering what to expect, is there any things i should know before i go. Are there any big no no's when approaching people. There will be some very big names there, don't want to make a idiot of myself.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Pete

    Just be yourself.
Don't get intimidated by people who are in an upper level.
Try to network, of course, but don't approach anyone if you have nothing interesting to say or ask.

    Good luck. Relax and enjoy.

      Seminars, I love them

Great place to network indeed and a great place for learning too. You will meet quite some characters. Don't hand out your business card immediately get to know people first.

I don't know if you paid a lot for the event or if the access fee was low. If it's the latest it can sometimes end up in a pitchfest with speakers giving 50% information and 50% selling. Remember this when listening to their story, write down their offers and only decide on the end of the event what to buy else you can end up with a lot as every speaker will have a great offer (I talk from experience, the first event I attended I bought almost everything lol)

Any chance you're going to the Clickbank Millionaire Workshop?

        1. Don't buy every program that is pitched to you. Seriously, I went to an IM seminar last year and I saw some people rushing to buy every speaker's program (avg $1,997) after their presentation.

        2. Take business cards. Start conversations. Ask if the other person has their business card first. If they ask you for yours, give it to them.

People hate to have things pushed on them, but if you ask for their card you A) Make them feel important and they will probably want to reciprocate by asking for yours and B) You now have their information and know how to contact them when you get home. If you are getting quite a few of them from people you are not familiar with, write personal notes on their cards once they walk away. This will remind you who it was when you get home and have this stack of cards.

        3. Enjoy yourself and don't be afraid to start conversations with the big guys.

    Hello Peter,

I'm guessing your going to the Internet Millionaire summit but I might be wrong.

Having been to some events the biggest tip I can give you is that socializing is the KEY.

Please BE YOURSELF. Be who you are, have a good time and if possible share a few drinks and a good time during the socializing time of the event.

The only Big NO NO is : Do not pitch your product/service or anything the first time you meet anyone. You will soon be noticed and avoided and the word spreads like wild fire when avoiding a particular person in an event. As long as you don't do that and simply be yourself and have fun with the Big Guns. Its all good.

you'll love the event and getting to know most of the Big guns are actually quite approachable and nice to talk to.

    All the Best mate.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Have fun, socialize, network, and most of all:

find opportunities to insert yourself into somebody else's plans! If somebody is talking to you about a big product launch they're doing soon, offer to JV with them and be a flagship affiliate or do a testimonial or something.

After the seminar, keep in touch with everybody. Collect business cards, jot down information, etc. You never know when contacts might come in handy.

I am most intrigued by your post, and not in a position to offer advice. However, I look forward to hearing all about it when you return.

    Enjoy,

    • As everyone has pointed out, be yourself. The networking will be the most important aspect of the seminar.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is take pictures. It's great social proof to be able to show pictures of yourself with other top internet marketers.

Also as others have mentioned, some of the seminars are allowed to turn into complete pitchfests. Others, the organizer does not allow the presenters to turn the seminar into pitchfests.

Best advice, be yourself, have fun. Don't look up or down at anyone. Be on their level - treat everyone as equal.

I find getting phone numbers or skype is better than a business card that everyone loses. Be real and add value.

    Good luck!

Try to restrain yourself from choking people

      Seriously..........

I've been to a couple now, and there seems to be a recurring theme...there are always a couple drunks - not just the ones that drink, but the ones that get drunk and want to act like morons.

So far my experience has been "meh"...planning on attending a couple more here in the next several months so we will see how it goes.

My other and probably more relevant Internet marketing seminar tip would be to find the most successful person you can that doesn't try to rush you off when you talk to them, and then keep asking them questions until you feel that they are ready for you to go...there is some awesome information that is passed around after they get a couple drinks in them, and in some cases, I've been surprised at some of the things that have been said
