I've also used PR Web and got good traffic as well as offline publicity. It's given a decent ROI almost every time.

I use a content writer out of the UK. I think she charges me $10 for them but don't quote me on that. I know they aren't expensive and they are well written. PM me if you want her email address. Her writers do all my articles.

PRWeb is the way to go in my opinion. I have usually chosen the most expensive package which delivers very good online exposure. OMG the backlinks you get are also very relevant and gives a GOOD boost in the serps.

Free Press Release Distribution Service - PR Log.Org really is free and gets a number of editors to read the material. I mention the "really is free" because lately it seems that "free" comes with a price tag, usually starting at $40 or so.
PRWEB is the best for paid service, in my experience, but remember that I'm not into IM

You can write your press release yourself and have that knowledge at your disposal ANYTIME you need to get publicity for yourself or your business.

There's a bit of a learning curve to write effective press releases, but my software (see my sig) short cuts that AND provides you with a list of FREE sites to submit to broken down by PR

    Best of Luck!

You can't embed links directly in the press release body, but they allow you to put a link right above the press release. It works just as well. I recently submitted one there that got picked up by Google News and it got 1300+ views in 3 days!

Did it generate traffic and did you rank up the serps?

PRWeb.com !!! Used them for years. They also gave me a FREE $200 Press Release for the Memorial when my step father passed away on Feb 22nd 2010 just to be nice and I was able to link it to his robert-w-sherman.blogspot that was made for him. When others all over went to Google and Searched "Robert W. Sherman" he had 1,2, & 3 positions there and this was LARGLY attributed to linking blogger to this PRWeb release on his cause of death which was Relapsing Polychondritis. Of course his memorial YouTube Video I believed helped too. OK, that is my 2cents worth! These guys are cool over there.

*** Please ask them to give you tips on how to make your release a 5 score. That's what you want... PERIOD!

Save some money and do a $80 release not a $40 and no more then $80 for a test release to see how well it does. This gets your feet wet there first. You can get a great release for $80. I did a release there for ONLY $80 for the Rich Jerk when that first came out and made over $2,400 in 1 month from that so it worked well. It is well worth it in my opinion to save or borrow the money and release this content one time and to do it right and they are EXCELLENT! Out of Ferndale Washington too, just up the road from myself. :-)

    Cheers,
