Movies and TV moving to the internet

Is there anyone else watching and following how movies and tv shows are starting to go to the internet. I am a pretty big fan of The kevin pollak show which is a live podcast show.

I am thinking that movies and tv shows are start to go to the internet rather than studios because there is more freedom. The only issue right now is where the money is going to come from but already i have been hearing and reading about some TV stations investing in current online shows.

  • This has been happening for a few years now. In the TV industry they refer to the internet as NEW MEDIA. I was a Journalist for many years and did some of my career reporting on TV. They have even considered running newscasts online, yet TV will never cease to exist. AT least not for a very long time. I think that what most studios and TV stations are doing is incorporating the Internet into whatever they produce. Some shows will require an active online participation whereas some will be completely viewed online.

I think it will be a matter of preference, viewership and of course MONEY!!! Producing a show, whether it's for TV or for the internet requires a very BIG financial investment. Studios and TV stations will need to find ways to pay for those production costs with Commercial ADS. Therefore, if a show does move online ADS will ALWAYS be somewhere.

Ya I totally agree with you ContentArticleWriter. There are already a few shows that are made for the internet that you are about to get through tivo and other tv sources. My only thing is when is it going to make that transition. Everyone that works a desk job 9-5 is on the computer. Half of them are already on Hulu and other sites like that so i am thinking that there is a huge market for internet shows and movies. I have not seen or heard of any internet movies yet but I dont know of many shows and news castings that are online. People sit infront of the TV less and less now a days because they are working that desk job. So they are sitting infront of the computer more often.

I've been looking into the NETGEAR EVA9150 (you can find it on Amazon.com). Combined with a decent wireless router, e.g., Cisco-Linksys E3000, and software from PlayOn.com, it has been claimed that one may stream movies from NetFlix & similar services into a home entertainment system. I'd love to ditch my overpriced cable service, and this might be a fair way to do it.
