Well, I was looking for a Joomla Plugin to add adsense and stumble across Google Ad Manager Instead.

Supposedly it combines a variety of ads for you and ad sources you have and picks the best paying. I'm wondering have anyone used it and how exactly does it work?

I used it for a couple of months last year but found it to be really clunky, not very intuitive and lacking in reporting features.

So I moved to open x (openx.org). It's also free and you can either host the ad manager with them or download and install on your own host. A lot more features than Google AM, can really drill a campaign down and let the software decide on the best ad to display (ROI, country, browser type, custom demographics etc).

You also get access to the OpenX marketplace to serve their ads. For instance you can say, display an OpenX advertiser if they can beat $x CPM, otherwise use my ads, or Googles, etc.

Takes a while to get the hang of the system but is well worth it IMHO

    Cheers

      Thanks,
I was going to go with google ad manager because of the joomla script for my site. I guess I'm going to stay primary with adsense so it doesn't matter much for me but to add adsense I need that add on from joomla and ad manager is the only way for that add on

Another vote for OpenX. It is open source and you keep to own the data, not Google!
