Maybe that's it. I've worn glasses to correct for nearsightedness since I was 5 or so. I tend to notice nearsightedness more than the other.

I work for a charity for the blind - so don't let me tell you about colour contrasting and clear print! Good tip on using the + key. Control and scroll button works too!

  Some of us have fancy keyboards with a built in zoom lever.... :p (Not that I ever use the thing, I can see close up just fine but easily drive into trees without glasses or contacts....I don't suppose there's a zoom function for that)

Or, if you're using Firefox, you can use the No-Squint Site Settings add on and set a default size to enlarge each page. I keep mine set on 120 when I'm on my mini and it works great!
