Please Help a Newbie!

Hi,

I am new to this forum (and to internet marketing) and wanted to say hi to everyone and to introduce myself. I also am in need of some advice as I just bought a website (mymiracleloans.com). The website sells an ebook that educates people on how to secure personal and business loans. The website has a lot of potential as it had generated massive sales in the past but sales have dropped off due to lack of attention and marketing. It still has several hundred affiliates. I was wondering what are some ways for me to find good affiliates to promote the site as well as to increase direct sales. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Jim

I would start with article marketing to drive traffic to your website. As a beginner to Internet Marketing, you really want to avoid information overload. I recommend you try one thing to promote your website and run with it. Driving traffic should increase your sales and I think writing articles is a great way to do that.

I recommend EzineArticle, GoArticles, and ArticleDashboard.

Use the search feature and you'll be able to find the other directories warriors recommend.

These are good places to start, but I would also suggest finding some websites that are specifically related to your niche or product. Often times guest blogging on high traffic blogs can bring more traffic than submitting to the articles directories.

Don't get me wrong, I love the article directories (I have over 700 articles at ezinearticles), but you also want to make sure that you are leveraging your content to get as much traffic as possible.

PPC can turn out to be very expensive if the person does not know how or when to use it. I suggest that you optimize your site. It might need a facelift and a renovation. You may want to read through your content and see where you need to cut or edit information, change photos and so on. If it does not have meta tags or title tags make sure to add them.

Once your on-page SEO is finished then move on to the off-page SEO among which one of the most important methods is Article marketing. Write SEO friendly and high quality articles. Do not stuff the articles with keywords and make sure there is a balance between keywords and information. Your sentences should be well structured, informative and should convey a message. Do not concentrate too much on KW density. Concentrate more on providing quality information that can be READ by a human and NOT by a search engine bot.

Thanks for the informative response! I have heard that I should submit something like 50 articles to the databases. However, I'm having trouble fathoming how I can write 50 articles on the subject. Do they all need to be unique and what should be the length on each one?

        Thanks,

        Jim

          Jim,

I see you got this from Flippa. Did you get proof on the number of affiliates? Was there a specific place for you to get in touch with these affiliates? Reason I asked is because I would want you to introduce yourself as the new owner of the site and then put a fire under them to sell for you in earnest.

Also, I looked at the HTML source code on your site and you have no H1 and H2 tags, no description captions, no meta descriptors. The website itself has weak "pull" with the search engines. The only thing towards the top of the html page of your site is the title tags. So "underneath" the hood, so to speak, there needs to be a lot more tweaking. This called SEO.

And I agree with the other posters here....you have to have a plan on how you are going to market this site.

Go to Ezine articles, and look for articles on your subject. If there are enough of them that should give you ideas for 50 articles. Don't copy, but you can paraphrase - just make them sufficiently different.
Remember you don't have to write them all at once, do a couple a day.

You'd probably get more affiliates just by having an offer that pays out more. An ebook may not be making potential affiliates lick their chops.

These affiliates who are weilding traffic for people looking for loans probably aren't sending that traffic to lowend ebooks. Probably to loan sites where they can get $50+ for a signup or something... you might be able to compete with that with a higher priced info product.

Dunno. You'd have to test it.

Thanks for the insight. I will try raising the price a little bit. Any suggestions on how to reach out to potential affiliates?

In your niche I have no clue.

I'd go after anyone who has an email list and a product though... Some ClickBank authors might have some similar info products. You might be able to do some cross promoting or integration marketing with them for your product.

Absolutely good advice - Clickbank affiliates have hundreds of products they can choose to promote.

So, get onto Clickbank with a really good commission structure.

Concentrate on what your affiliates will earn, not what you will earn.

For a cheap ebook you might have to offer 90% - after all, 10% of something is far better than 50% of nothing.

I never understood why people pursue making money on the internet differently than a brick and mortar business.

Would you have bought a brick and mortar without knowing how to hire a sales associate, or even where to look?

You should probably do some press release and write articles.
Doing some articles will definitely bring some targeted visitors to your website.

Also post some free classified ads, as it can bring some decent traffic to your site, with no cost.

To second mgtarheels, you need to develop a Marketing Plan, just as you would for a regular brick and mortar business. Several people here have already given you good ideas to go into that Marketing Plan. So, take a few days, put an initial Marketing Plan together - and then work that plan for the next 15-30 days.

Then, step back and evaluate. Make adjustments. And so forth.

At some point, when you can afford it, you may want to pay for some advice and help from some experienced IM folks in here.

I would say SEO and driving traffic to your site.

    1) article writing
    2) article submission to article directories
    3) social bookmarking
    4) blog commenting to related niche
    5) pinging your site - Blog and ping | Pingoat and Ping-o-Matic!
    6) forum posting
    7) social networking - twitter, facebook, etc.

Hope this helps and Good Luck to your website. More \power =)

I would say to build your list first - otherwise you won't be able to nurture whatever niche you are in, I hope that helps.

yes article marketing would be the best way for you to market your website. try adding some details (about the book you are selling) in the articles. Also try buying advertisement banners on different book website like amazon.com...

How do you look for affiliates on Clickbank? Also, my gravity on Clickbank is fairly low (around 19) and I am afraid that affiliates will be turned off by that. What are some ways to entice affiliates? I am already offering 75% commission and am going to add banners and promotion material.
