Domains with "buy" in them

I found some good domains with the word buy in the front. I know "buy" keyword phrases are good because they signal someone in the purchasing mood. However, is it good to buy domain names with "buy" in them? Does Google penalize you?

I am not 100% sure as I haven't bought any buy domains in the past but I really doubt if anything like this would happen.

But keep this in mind that google doesn't love going around penalizing websites and
that means they WILL NOT penalize you for everything.

A while back I saw a list of acceptable words to have at either the front or end of your domain name. Buy, Guide, and Internet were a few.

I think buying a domain with buy in it is no problem at all, as long as it's in the front and it doesn't break apart your keyword phrase.

If the search term that you expect people to use to find your website includes the term 'buy' then it's a good idea. However, when I search for specific items that I want to buy I don't actually use the term 'buy' - may be I should! More research needed.

I happened across multiple domains with "buy" keyword phrases in them with monthly searches over 2000. The products are between $100-$1000 so I thought I'd give Amazon a shot promoting them.

I'll post the results in the coming months.

Hi the sites i have made have the word buy in them, what we do is use them as a gateway to a main site where people can make there purchase. all the 'buy' sites are for single products so you know people want to buy that product, so you will get targeted traffic! They all rank high on page one and the oldest is about a year and half old! and making main site about $4000 a month in sales!

There has never been any bother from google nor any drop in rankings

The one thing i had trouble with was from the manufactorers of the product but after sorting out some legal issues all was ok

Id recomend the buyexample.com to anyone selling products, i dont think it would work as well on ebooks

I disagree the main point is to get the keyword you are targeting, the buy is just there for a name and so people can see they can buy the product they are searching for from your site! not many people search for stuff with buy in front unless its 'buy cheap ------' !

I don't think that you are disagreeing with what I said but adding an additional point.

Well actually, a lot of people search for buy keyword, so it is part of the keyword and is an action keyword showing that the searchers are highly targeted to actually buy the product. They've already done the research and they want to buy.

Yes but not as much as people searching for the keyword without buy in front of it! and if its a product those people searching for just the keyword still want to buy that product.

I have been noticing that there a lot of keyword phrases with the words buy and purchase in them with a good amount of search volume. I might try one or two domains with the word in front of the keyword phrase and test it. Seems like the visitors are ready to purchase anyway.

You mean like "Best Buy" - the computer and electronics store?

I dont think that google penalizes Best Buy for having the word "buy" in the domain name, or for the big sign on the front of their store.

Buy is a great action keyword and I use buykeyword domains with any penalties from Google. A lot of people use them as you will find out when you try to register one with a popular keyword.

I had never even considered including the word 'buy'. Shows how easy it is to miss even the obvious stuff!

I can see it working for certain marketings, although for leads that need warming up and preselling I could see it being a detriment.

Google isn't going to ban you for having buy in your domain. Having buy in your domain name gives you a better chance for ranking for the keyword that has "buy" in it and it also a great buying keyword at that.

You should expect some great converting traffic if you are able to rank on the first page for the keyword.
