For You Wordpress Users...

I had a quick question that I was not able to find elsewhere on WF, but cannot seem to figure out(it seems to be pretty simple).

I am looking to add posts to my different pages on my wordpress site, but cannot find how.

Hereis the site I am talking about, to explain a little easier. My "home" page is the only place I can find that I can put up new posts, but I want to use that as only a welcome-type page.

Now, I was looking to put posts in "future options trading basics" page, but cannot find how to do this.

Can anyone help?

I'll give you a big 'ole thanks

I'm pretty sure you can only add posts to your homepage and your category pages.

    Here is a recommendation though.

Install the Redirection plugin for WP (it's free). If you have a page named "Future Options Trading Basics", simply redirect that page to go to the category with the same name that has all the posts you want.

This is the only way I can think of. The Redirection plugin will allow you to format your blog however you want.

Place a redirect from the page name you want to the actual category page with all the posts, because you cannot place posts on other pages. Hope that is clear enough.

People won't even notice the redirect.

    JEL0221,

Unfortunately, the main post area is the only place that has the "post" function. Pages are actually "static" pages that are not programmed to take in posts, comments, tags, etc.

Only way around it is to install additional WP blog software in "sub-directories" and on the page navigation buttons, use the "link-to" plugin to redirect the visitor to that separate blog directory. But that is wayyyyyy to much trouble. Blogs were not meant to have more than one "blog" area.

    Hope that helps!

I think so. If you want to change the page your posts are on, you need to create a page called 'Home' and a page called 'Blog' (or whatever you want their equivalent to be called).

Don't put any content on the blog page but write the 'home' page as your static welcome page.

Then go to 'Settings' on the left hand menu and click on 'Reading'.

In that area of the site, you'll see that you can choose to either have your front page displaying 'your latest posts' or 'a static page'.

Choose 'a static page'. Then select the 'Home' page as the home page and the 'Options Trading' page as your posts page.

If you have any problems or if that doesn't make sense, call me on Skype and I'll talk you through it.

This is the best way to accomplish all that you are trying to do.

Ignore all the other stuff about adding plugins and additional software and redirecting bla bla bla.

It's a simple function built into Wordpress, just adjust the settings as described by Matt and you are all set.

(rosetrees option works too, just a different approach)

Ok. Let me see. You want a Welcome page to be displayed on your Home page! Right?

Then, add a new page, that will be the Welcome Page.

In WP-Admin, Settings > Reading > Front page displays > Check "A static page (select below)" > Select the 'Welcome Page'.

    Hope that helps.

      JEL0221,

What everybody agrees on is that you can have only one static page and one blog page. These are the default functions that come with WP software.

You can have as many static pages as you want, but only one blog page in the standard WP software. I have seen custom blogs with multiple blog pages but I guess these are either elaborate custom themes or plugins.

Basically what your talking about is setting up your site as a CMS with a static front page or sales page and a separate blog component.

Just google it as there are many helpful videos showing exactly how to do it.

I'm going to be different - hey, why not!

You don't want pages at all. You want categories.

You don't want to display a pages menu, you want to use a categories menu.

Then, instead of having a "future options trading basics" page you set up a category with that name.

Then, when a visitor clicks on that category in the category menu they will be taken to a sheet that displays all the posts in that category.

If you want different posts on different pages you need to create multiple page templates to accomplish this. You could then have only certain categories post on those pages.

You can start here: Pages WordPress Codex

There's all kinds of videos on youtube about it.
