Another Keyword Domain Question

Ok let's say the base keyword your going for is "House Socks" and let's say it get's 20k exact searches per month. You go to reg the domain for housesocks.com and bam it's taken. So your looking and you see the .org extension is available. Would you rather have housesocks.org or something like newhousesocks.com, besthousesocks.com, or buyhousesocks.com? Or aside from all of that what about house-socks.com?

I'm spending a lot of time trying to find the right domain for my keyword and it's killing me. Now I know that having the exact keyword isn't everything but I know it helps a little bit so I'm not going to reg buythisthing.com to sell house socks. And then another scenario say your main keyword gets 20k searches per month but there is some nice domains available but they are housesock.net or something like that and house sock only gets 4k searches per month. Is it bad to go the "house sock" route instead of "house socks?"

I'm sorry if this is hard to read lol but any insights will be greatly appreciated!

Generally when it comes to buying the top level URL (ie. housesock.com) the plural thing doesn't seem to matter all that much.

Lets say you have housesock.com and your comp has housesocks.com and you are both competing for {house socks} searches. So long as you do the rest of your SEO better, you will still beat the competition.

All the alternatives you have listed to your desired URL are acceptable, just make sure you buy a .com .org or .net domain, stay away from .info
