What's the easiest platform to use to create a html website?

WP is so robust these days you're better off just using it. With a full HTML site updating content is much more tedious. I have both and I much prefer WP. If you go the full HTML route you will either need to hand code or use programs like dreamweaver.

Just got finished posting on another thread about this topic...I strongly suggest Kompozer HTML editor. It's a free download. It's great for beginners and intermediate users.

LOl, you totally suggested exactly what I was thinking of. Kompozer is awesome and really easy to use. I only have minimal knowledge with HTML and there is no way I could completely design a website all on my own with a program like Dreamweaver. I hear it's the best to use, but for simplicity purposes (and free) you can't beat Kompozer.

What's also easy to do if you know a little HTML is just find a template and modify it with your content. Saves time and still looks professionally done.

If your serious about learning web design then i would recommend start coding by hand using strictly notepad. The editors these days make things a whole lot simpler by remembering the common tags, but many of them dont build W3C valid code. You can use it its trial version. It is very strong html editor. I learned to use in 1 month. Wordpress is good content management system but you have to learn to create your website. This is always the advantage!

If you really want to start coding by yourself, you may want to try TextWrangler. It's free, and lines up your text. It's the same as most text editors, but I really like it for raw coding.

Just to warn you, HTML is nothing like Wordpress. I recommend checking out http://www.davesite.com/webstation/html/chapX1.shtml. That's all the HTML I learned, and I code half of my own websites now using HTML.

HTML is probably the easiest language to learn, so good luck!
