Article Marketing Advice

Hi everyone,

I'm a little bit new to writing articles, but it seems that most of the warriors on here are telling people that this is a good way to help gain better rankings by providing good backlinks.

The problem I am having is figuring out worthwhile content to write about. I find that my various posts are very specific niches (not too many searches per month). I can PM someone what my posts are about if that helps but the best example I can think of is a t-shirt store selling numerous different types of t-shirts but all having the same base materials. I could certainly write an article describing the materials and how good the product is, but I couldn't do that for every posts otherwise i'll have quite a bit of duplicate content.

I'm wondering if the niche isn't that popular (i.e. numerous 100/month searches), would article marketing be worthwhile? And if so, any advice to solve my dilemma?

Thanks everyone!

It depends on if you are already ranking for the term you want. Typically you will write a post about x niche on your site and to help drive traffic to that post or your site you will write an article with different targeted keywords about x niche that link back to your post.

Just do a search on here about article marketing there's tons of info on it.

It would definitely not hurt to put few articles out there just to see if it would get you some visitors or not. But just for pure link building prospective it is definitely good idea as you can easily get lot of quality one way backlinks. And as you said that there might not be so much to write about, then don't worry a few articles can already give you a good result.

Before you begin your article marketing campaign make sure it is a buying niche filled with starving buyers.

You will get better results by going with the trends right now and whats hot. Niches like loan modification, credit card debt etc. will give you better conversions than if you were to go into a niche that has been put in the backburner for quite from time now.

A popular niche that many go into as well is weight loss. There is a lot of traffic to be had in that niche but it doesn't convert as well as the other niches I have gone into.

Weight loss is more of an info seeker niche and the best way to convert that traffic is by creating an email campaign and building a relationship with them. Direct linking will give you lack luster results when it comes to your weight loss campaign.

The gaming niche is ok and the satellite tv to pc has given me descent conversions in the past.

Another good niche is the dating niche but you will need to attack that niche from a different angle in your articles. Instead of writing articles about find a man, find a woman etc. you should attack it from the single parent looking for love, single father, recently divorced etc.

The consumer has gotten numb to seeing the same man meets woman type of angle.

Another descent niche is the insurance niche. Even though it might seem like there is tough competition, there are ways to get into a niche and profit well from article marketing.

And the key to getting into a niche is the keywords you choose. In order to convert the niche well you will need the right angle.

Most people make getting keywords a lot more complicated that it is. Just use google keywords and dig down til you have as many keywords as you can get. The next step is to go into google search and see if you can rank for the top 10 places. DON'T worry about page 2, 3 etc. They are irrelevant to the goal you are trying to achieve which is top 10.

If you happen to be in a niche that doesn't have much traffic you might be better off going into a different niche. But if you feel that you can write comfortably in that niche while promoting other niches, then go for it.

You will find yourself able to easily rank keywords for this smaller niche and pretty much dominate without much effort.

Once this psychological ahha moment kicks in when you have dominated this smaller niche, you will be able to attack bigger niches with more confidence. And this confident comes as a result that you have proven to the most important person that a niche can be dominated, which is YOURSELF.

As an affiliate you should look at the bigger picture. All the products that you are promoting will all add up to the bigger piece of the pie you are creating.

Just go into a niche, get keywords, dominate and move to the next.

Do a archive search for "Allen Graves".

That guy really knows article marketing.

He does not know it, but he's my "go to guy" for article related issues. He's made a ton of posts on this forum about the subject.

      Thanks everyone some good advice.

I tried a little more searching but didn't come up with an answer to my follow up question. Since I use very specific micro niches that don't have alot of searches, would writing an article that is one level higher be useful for me? Can I still promote my micro niche once the article is complete?

The best example I can think of is the following:

micro niche: big green kitchen widget
article niche: kitchen widget (with a link to big green kitchen widget at the end of the article)

      Thanks!

You need to get more creative about what you write and you can find all kinds of topics.

        For example:

Is a big green kitchen widget right for you?
How to care for your big green kitchen widget
When a big green kitchen widget is a bad idea
3 tips for keeping your big green kitchen widget like new
How my big green kitchen widget made my party a hit
Who makes the best big green kitchen widget?
How is the big green kitchen widget made?
Repairing your big green kitchen widget
Where to find parts for your big green kitchen widget
Who do you call when your big green kitchen widget goes wonky?

Yeah you can still promote the big green kitchen widget niche within the kitchen widget niche in your articles. But the thing is that the traffic you get wouldn't be as targeted. You might get some conversions but you might be better off focused on just promoting the day lights out the big green kitchen widget content that you have.

Even though you have little keyword traffic from this niche, you still have the opportunity to scale it up to the next level so that you can milk it for what it has from every possible angle.

        1. You can write more articles to get some traffic
        2. You can build websites each focusing on the keywords that you have on this micro-niche
        3. You can build a list to gain a following so that you can further promote to them to similar products/services they might be interested in
        4. Properly seo your content to leverage the traffic you can get from search engines
        5. Take advantage of other traffic sources that are available to you:
        (a). Yahoo answers
        (b). Press Releases
(c). Twitter Traffic (Might be a little difficult for conversions but if you are in a deep micro-niche your followers are most likely to be warmer to buying then other saturated niches)
        (d). Classifieds

Test and track your traffic sources to see which one is giving you the best return on investment and just focus like a laser beam on the traffic source til it has nothing left to give to you.

    Hi Adammcm,

I can see your frustration in trying to find new ideas for articles to drive more targeted traffic. That can be trucky sometimes. I may or may not have the answer for you. I'll give it a shot: Sometimes it helps to think of an actual real physical person you are writing for. Just ONE person. Example: A 35-year-old male construction worker who works in South Florida and whose hobbies are bike riding, surfing, and riding around town on his Harley. If you focus on just this one person's needs and likes and hobbies, you'll come up with more precise information on which to write about.

    I sure hope that made sense and hopefully makes cents, too!!!! Pun intended ;

    Take good care,

    Rosie

      Hi all,

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I was just thinking about one of my sites and wanted to know if article marketing will help me. On said site, I have about 3 keywords that I am trying to get noticed with.

For one of those 5 I am located in the middle of Page 1. Another keyword I am ranked at the bottom of Page 2, and for the 3rd I am ranked on Page 3. Obviously I want to improve my positioning for the Page 2/Page 3 keywords.

I am never done any article marketing before, so i'm curious if I write a few articles related to my subject, can I expect to see a bump in the rankings? I'm just not sure if I have the right idea.

      Thanks!

Yes, you can see a bump, but it may not be as fast as you'd like

Article marketing can be a slow process; it can take some time to build momentum. However, in my opinion, it's the best (free!) way to get your name up there and climb the ranks.

Start by writing a few unique articles that are relevant to your niche. Try some different article directories. Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Amazines, Article Snatch are just a few of the ones that other Warriors are having success with. You can always narrow down the number of directories you submit to later. I started with about 10 or 12. Now I submit to 6-7 different directories on a regular basis.

If your content is good, it will get picked up by other sites and get you backlinks (not to mention eyes from a whole new audience!)

One more tip -- always create a user profile on these article directories. It gives readers a way to learn more about you, which is always nice. But more importantly, when you include your link, it counts as another backlink.
