Website Buyers: What Do You Look For When Investing In A Website

Hello fellow Warriors.

Buying and selling websites is a profitable business and
though the market changes rapidly, it seems as though
many online marketers are having success in this industry.

As online marketers who invest in virtual real estate
(websites, blogs, forums, web 2.0 properties, etc...)
what criteria do you look for?

For example, what are the most important aspects of a
website that would motivate you to buy...
  • Traffic
  • Revenue
  • Design
  • A community of followers
  • Additional online properties (i.e. Twitter accounts, Facebook Fan Pages, Youtube accounts etc...)
  • Quality content (actual quality content, well-written, helpful articles)

Which one would be the most important and which aspects
am I leaving out?

    Hi Kennyk3,

Apart from the factors you have mentioned I'd like to add some more factors

    1. A domain name which is brandable or has exact matching keywords for a high demand keyword.

    2. Trends for the important keyword targeted by the website. For example, a website on iPad accessories would be sold at a higher price than the revenue it generates now because there is growing trend for iPad and related accessories.

    3. No duplicate content

    4. Ranking for important keywords in major search engines

Excellent contribution. Thanks so much. Those
are great aspects. Definitely trends are going
to affect what a buyer considers to be profitable.

Thanks so much for those suggestions.
