Default Is Amember the Best for member sites?

I just checked out the amember site and looked at the demos. It looks pretty comprehensive. I've heard alot of good things about it.

Is there anything close to Amember for WP membership sites, and maybe a bit less expensive? Or is Amember really only the way to go.

There is a good discussion, in another thread, that may help.

Go to the bottom of this post and look under "Tags" and click on "membership script"

Amember is pretty powerful and works well unless you have some unusual needs. Then, a good grasp of .php is needed.

It seems that the product is offered by two guys, possibly Russians. Their only support is via email and unless you have the simplest of questions, plan on a long back-and-forth with them. One email per day if you're lucky and it may take several before they finally answer the question you asked.

Amember is a great script and while it can be a little tricky to setup (which you can outsource anyway) there is virtually no maintenance involved afterward -- it's set and forget.

Simple Member Pro is another good paid option which you can pick up as a WSO for less than Amember -- it's not quite as flexible but still a good choice.

And everyone seems to forget there are quite a few ways to setup a membership site for free. Many sites don't require all the advanced features these scripts offer -- just depends on exactly what you need.

Thought About Offline Consulting?
Fiona - $5,500 + $600/m 1st Week... Anthony - $7k + $594/m... Liz - $12k 1st Month...
Rob - $7k + $800/ 1st Month... Scott - $45,000 in 3m... 20/yo Jock 6-Figure Client 2nd Month
Don't you deserve the same unfair advantage?

Hi Kyle

Your quote about setting up membership sites for free - which methods are these?

The reason I'm interested I'm looking at delivering some videos (product working on) and have come across the utilisation of a membership site download area for secure delivery.

I also am aware that Wordpress can do it but am not sure how yet - so any pointers?

Regards

Peter
