I went from Making $1200+ A Day To Making $600+ A Day...But I've NEVER BEEN HAPPIER

Ok,

Just wanted to share this with you guys.
Last year, when I did the math, I calculated that on the average, I was making something like $1,200-$1,500 per day.

This year, in the first 6 months alone, after averaging my total IM income out, the daily income has dropped to $600 plus, with my best days at $800-900.

BUT, I've never been happier...you know why?

'Cos every single cent of that 600,700,800 or even 900 is pure profit. Yes, pure proft!

On the other hand, last year when I was bringing in $1200-$1500 per day, my profit level was around the 500-600 mark only.

See.. I was a super-active PPC marketer and all my income last year was derived from PPC marketing--Google, Yahoo, MSN etc etc. And depending on what niches/products I was marketing, campaign costs could be as high as $1K in exchange for a mere $400-$500 profit.

This year, after Google banned my account, I decided it was time to make the switch....to online niche marketing.

Really online niche marketing works...if you know what you are doing.. and best if you can sell your own niche products...try it.. let me know what u think.

Regards
Mister Bryan

    Hi Bryan,

Congrats on breaking free off PPC!!!

But I kind of felt like something was missing from your post. Like how you are making all those profits with niche marketing.

Could you maybe give us a brief outline of how you make niche marketing work?

    Thanks

Online niche marketing basically means finding a niche where there's money to be made and doing 3 things:

      1) Build a niche targeted email opt-in list
      2) Market niche affiliate products to see what sells
      3) Start a niche related blog
      4) Create a better version of the top-selling niche product based on data/results gathered from your niche affiliate marketing efforts.

Well, with niche marketing, you NEED TO DO a couple of things to make it a success...

      1) Know that a niche is not a market.

Often enough, I hear IM'ers talking amongst themselves and one of the questions I hear being asked most of the time is "Hey, What niche are you in?" And I hear replies like " Oh, I'm in the health niche"

Nonono... in reality, you are in the health market, and within that market, you are in the say... penis enlargement niche... and to break that down further, you could even go deeper into the penis enlargement exercises sub-niche.

If you try to sell to a market i.e sell to everyone, you'll find that it's very difficult. Think about it...ever heard of the military watch brand LUMINOX? Why do you think they broke down their watches into 3 categories--Land, Air and Sea?

      2) You MUST Have a Targeted Niche List.

You can't just create a product in a certain niche or sub-niche, put it up on Clickbank and expect to see a million dollars by the end of the month.
Nobody is gonna buy from an unknown. With your own niche list, you can better relate to people within your niche community, i.e learn the lingo, the secret language, what they are looking for.

Also, having your own niche list helps when you plan your own product creation, cos' you can fire up a series of surveys, see what they want, and just make it for them and sell it to em.

      3) You MUST have substantial knowledge within your niche. No 2 ways about it. You must understand what you are selling. Try selling a forex product without knowing what a pip is. Sure, you might make a few sales, but they'll never buy you that fancy looking sports car you were looking for. Why do you think car dealers/showrooms require that their sales representatives know how to drive?

      4) Your niche MUST have lots of affiliate products to sell. Otherwise, you are just plain wasting your time. Not only can you make good commissions from marketing these niche affiliate products to your list, you can also research to see what kind of niche affiliate products sell best, videos? physical products or what? That way, should you decide to create your own product in that niche, you can just model after the top-selling product and create a superior version of it.

Hi Mister Bryan - well done on your profit increase and changing to a different business model after getting banned from google.

The method you outline is fine if you know what you are doing but maybe you can expand the detail a little for people just starting out as they won't understand your plan easily enough.

No offence what so ever towards OP but it's funny how (especially in IM communities) people constantly claim to have "made" $x, while in reality, they have spent $y to make that $x and therefore they have made $x-$y=$z, rather than $x - and more often than not, these two figures differ greatly from each other (just look at OP).

Sure, I can see why "gurus" claim to have made an x amount of money and fail to show how much they've spent to make that money but when communicating to each other I think we should mention profit, rather than revenue.

I mean - say that I'm in retail business and sell TV sets. I buy them from a wholesaler at $1,000 a piece and resell them for $1,100 a piece. I then go ahead and sell 100 TV sets - can I claim that I've "made" $100,000 ? Now how is PPC / product launch (or anything really) different?

    Cheers,
    Bryan

P.S. Apologies for the (slightly off topic) rant

      Well Bryan,

maybe you didnt really understand my initial post.

With PPC, I was spending 800 bucks, and bringing in a revenue of 1200 bucks per day, making that a nett profit of 400 bucks...

as compared to having my own niche business that brings in 600+ per day profit after factoring out affiliate payments.

Great advice. Find your passion, something you know something about, and work that angle. Try to spread yourself too thin or get into areas you know nothing about and your income will be less than you want.

    Great and congrates!
But, this is very much astonishing that Google banned your account because your landing page was not relevant. Why they did not only removed/ rejected your ads? Why they did not stop your campaign only?

    Just curious to know. Thanks

yup yup, when you do niche marketing, u will still use PPC for 1 thing, and that is to drive traffic to your opt-in page. Sure there are other methods that work, like article marketing etc etc, but I still use PPC, only thing is that now my income doesnt really depend on it.

When google sneezes, suddenly what took you...I'm sure...weeks,
maybe months to master (adwords), went down the drain.

I can't imagine spending any amount of time on skills that CAN
make you alot of money, be taken away from you in a blink of an
    eye.

It's not just google. It's Ebay. SEO Rankings. Blogger. Squidoo.
    Facebook. Myspace. Forums.

Ugh. I can't stand online marketing. So many rules and a sneeze
    can wipe out entire businesses.

The internet changes so much...it's hard to keep up with, or maybe
    I'm just wacky.

Anyways, with a quality score like that...you have to wonder if
they pick names out of a hat to ruin peoples businesses and lives.

For me Adwords is too big just to drop. I've had problems before but I had to fight through them. For every $1 I was making from free traffic I was making $3 on the content network. What would you rather make, $1000 per day or $1,000 per day + an extra $3,000 per day?
